It rained here most of the morning, I was really hoping to get out.
So around 1pm it stopped. That kind of shot my plans for the day.. (man im happy about that). So I decided to stay close to home, about 5 blocks from me..lol A PARK???
Yes a park, I believe its been around since mid 1800s.
I was there about a year and a half ago when I first started detecting. Found some wheat pennys there.
So I figured I would spend a few hours just to get out before the holidays. Maybe find some merks and rosies.. Well I found 2 merks a IH and some wheats..
Until the gold coin showed up and stole the show!!!!
The best thing is I got it on video.
At first I thought it was a gold ring, so I pulled out my phone to video it, because my wife keeps saying to me why dont you find gold like the other people??? Lol
I always tell her, im not interested in gold. I like colonial!!!
Well this changes things a little. Haha.
I cant post the video right now, because I was not a Gentleman in it.
Needless to say I was pretty excited over this modern coin!!
This is just icing on the cake, my Christmas came early.
I will never look at a park the same again.
Thanks for looking.
George

Well, I was gonna ask you again " Did IP confirm it ", but I see that fortunately he has8-). Keep the file away from that one! The fact you were taking the chance of being seen in a park is WAY more unbelievable than you finding a gold coin. I am starting to believe Brad's theory on where that horse shoe is!
All joking aside, that is beautiful. Congrats on an amazing find. Thank goodness for fumble-fingered Philadelphians. Musta been an Eagle that dropped that one!:laughing7:

Hey,
I'd rather been seen in the park then with you Hillbillies! Lol
Merry Christmas Dave.

Sounds like you dont have faith in parks, witch happen to give up your best find yet, never underestimate an old park, congrats...

Thanks PP,
But Best find is relative..
A gold coin is Awesome, but my US belt plate with the Regiment carved in the back is my best find to date for me!! Much more personal, and Historical.
Happy Holidays.

I just noticed. If you haven't answered this question already, how did it ring up?

I am wondering cause I dug a gold ring with my Deus over a month ago and if I wasn't looking for this particular ring from someone, I would have never dug it up cause it rang in so low and shallow.

VDI 77, in 12 frequency. About 5inch down. Beautiful signal!

Thanks for the VDI info. I know it's all about sound and not numbers, but it's nice to have an idea of what it rings up as. A signal of 77 is an obvious dig, so I'm sure if I swing my coil over one I'm likely to dig it.
