🔎 UNIDENTIFIED 18th century cooking pot repair?

This is an interesting piece I dug this week at a mid 1700's cellar. The base metal is iron but it has 3 thick copper rivets in it. My first thought was a repair on the bottom of a cast iron cooking pot. I found other pieces of the cauldron at the same site. I have never dug anything like this before. Sure rang up nice on the Nox! Has anyone else seen something like this?

Looking at the item I'm wondering if it could be the attachment point for a handle or foot of a cast iron pot.
I've dug 100's of pieces of cast iron cookware over the years and never have I dig something like this piece.

No the copper rivets are to close together. I have dug a lot of sad irons and trivets. They survive remarkably well.
