Stopped by the junk shop where the man sells some silver that isn't, & some good treasures for cheap.
poking thru his 10 for a buck junk/foreign coin box I scored this 1911 Venezuela 2 Bolivar.
it's marked 10G and .835, lost .4G from wear, still a great score ;D
Pulled a few decent Indians too, wanted to buy 10, not arouse suspicion, he might check em closer.....
No hard feelings, he probably paid a halfcent for it
HH all! and Keep your eyes open

Nice!! :icon_thumright: Sweet little score!

Nice! I love picking through those bins too.

I love seeing coins that I have never seen before from other countries :icon_thumleft:

nice pick up for ten cents man!

thanks all!
oddly, the coin has a cupronickel look to it..
I can understand it's being overlooked...
I dug an early 20th century silver from Peru that was also marked with weight and fineness, (.900/12.5G), is this a South American thing?
BTW, this was the shop where I got this full 'Lacastillere' perfume,
Lalique cut glass, 2 dollars.
When I researched it, I found one with original box on Ebay. $120
Here's an empty one with the same cap, but not nearly as nice a bottle $40

You gotta be careful there, he's got some fake .999 silver rounds (the 1804 Bust Dollar copy) for sale,
He insists they are real :laughing7:
How do I know? I put one on my pocket scale, 28 grams, no makers mark, just a series of numbers on the edge
Great shop if you know what to look for

cool deal and a gorgeous bottle! is the cap sterling? sure looks it from the pic :icon_scratch:

I learned a long time ago to never feel sorry about getting a good deal from a coin or relic dealer Herbie. Good eye their Bud. A couple of years ago, Dman was with me at a relic dealer's store. The dealer had bought a large collection from a guy who had owned and personally detected an old home used as a hospital during the Battle of Nashville. He had a shoe box with misc. bullets , old jewelry, and coins from that site. I asked him how much for the box and he made a rough count of the bullets and said 100 bucks. I bought it. There were 76 bullerts (including Enfields), lots of CW small relics, and several coins hiding in the bottom of the shoe box including an 1898 half, 1898 quarter, and several silver Barber and Rosey dimes. HH, Quindy.

Thanks Chris & HMN,
I see no markings on it, the inside threads are shiny & polished, and boy does that stuff smell strong ::)
I believe it's plated ;D
some more research on the bottle is in order, they are quite collectable.
Got a precious metal test kit on the way, every MD'er needs one
