I just found one in a MWR. I am going to take a pic tonight, anyone know if it is worth more than melt in any condition? It is well circulated.

2012 Redbook says that this coin in very fine condition is worth $14. There were about 5,500,000 minted.

put some baking soda on it.And rub it really hard with hot water.It makes the coin look amazing.I wouldnt do this with a super valuable coin though.It just makes it look super shiny!My coin guy says dont do this.I still do it with common dates!its all up to you.To each its own!

i like toothpaste better. i feel like its less abrasive

Wow I'm surprised to read many people telling you to clean it or even torch it? I'm guessing torch it means it's only worth melt, or it could mean physically burn it to make it look cool?

Never never ever clean your coins. No shininess can replace 50+ years of petina. Even if it's for your personal collection of which you never plan to sell -- never clean them. The only exception is to getting a clearer view on a dateless buffalo nickel.

He's referring to coins found in the ground. When I said don't clean them ever, I meant with any sort of chemical that's not water. Even water I'd be careful using on copper. I have no objection to cleaning dirt off coins

Thanks for clearing that up Dossier. I'm just a bit touchy on that coin cleaning subject Congrats palidin on the Franklin.
