1967 half proof?

I got this nice looking 1967 that almost looks proof like but has no mint mark. It also has a really silvery edge more like a 90% edge. The back has glimpses of mirrored surfaces and the front does a little bit. I didn't think they made proofs that year. Any thoughts? Probably just low circulation.

Could be from a SMS (special mint set). I remember finding a '65 or '66 a couple of years ago that looked real shinny too that I thought might have been from a SMS. Nice find.

If I remember correctly, silver proofs(atleast halves) were NOT minted with the S mark UNTIL 1968.

So I think it is a proof, definitely looks like one to me from the pics.

No proof coins minted between 1965-1967.

It could possibly be plated.

I have a proof looking '67 that looks like it was chromed.

Thanks for the responses. I'm leaning SMS over plated mainly because I've seen a lot of plated and they usually don't look this good (they seem a bit off).

Like Russell said, SMS halves would still be 40%ers.

Do you have a clearer photo of the obverse? It still looks like it could just be plated to me because Kennedy's hair looks too worn for me to think it wouldn't be plated (but that could be my eyes making something of nothing).

I wish I had a better camera. The black shadow in the second picture is actually a reflection of my phone. I put it in a 2x2 as well.





I'll get a better camera in the future.
