Hello! I am going to post this thread and then fall over, one tired man. Thanks to all who played and have supported me here at TNet. I will doo this again sometime... not any time soon, but sometime
Here are all the details of my two day hunt. All the finds from each site and some comments from me about the things that I found interesting or unusual.
Here's a link to the "Winners" thread if you want to read who won and get the generic details about this weekend's hunt.

I started off crack of dawn (6am) Saturday morning and the first school I went to was a bust, I had already detected it last year. Dahhh. I had like 8 to 10 schools mapped out for each day so I just went to the next one on the list. I hunted on opposite sides of town both days by the way.
The first school I hit was near a park I had hunted that was loaded with coins so I thought the schools in this area would be good too. I was right! These schools did have carpeted mats in the large play structures areas, bummer, but Saturday school 1 and 2 did have two large swings areas and a few monkey twirly bars that had woodchips. The woodchips were older but I still had good success at Sat School #1. 1 - 1/2 hours hunt time or so, 142 coins for a $10.72 face value. Off the great start. This was boosted by a Sac $1 coin and a Canada Tooney $2 coin. The only thing I would consider a keeper from here is a Skull and Crossbones pendant. Not silver but really cool. I also got 4 rings, a nice CZ filled cross, and other trinkets.

School two was not as good, same deal, mats in the play structure area and two sets of swings and twirley bars etc. I only spent 1 hour here but did manage my first sterling keeper of the weekend. A silver ring with a turquois stone. Totals were 1 hour hunt time, 53 coins, $1.95 face.

On the way to the third school, I passed a park. On a whim, I pulled in. Good decision. I don't think this park had ever been detected. There were two woodchipped play areas, kind of small, one for the tots, one for the older kids. I was getting some consistant finds working my way along, covering 100% of the woodchipped area as usual. In the older kids area, I got a large signal under one of the trees that were in the play areas, out pops a beautiful tennis bracelet, a real heart stopper. At first I thought I had hit the jackpot, but it turns out the be a really nice 925 stamped vermeil (gold plated silver) bracelet with 42 princess cut stones, CZ's for sure since it's silver not gold. Very nice find anyway and in perfect shape. Then the cool find of the day. Sitting underneath the the walkway bridge thingie, a little plastic device laying on the ground. A Dr. Fart machine!! It still works so into the pouch it went. The funniest thing. As my pouch filled up, every time I bent over to dig, the coins in the pouch would depress one of the six buttons on this thing and it would let out one of it's farts. Perfect!!! Good thing no one was around or they would have thought I had some serious problems. I was cracking up
.
Now the good and interesting part. In the tot lot, there was a painted red metal bowl shaped thing, about four foot diameter and it had a slight funnel shape to it also, complete with a about 2 inch diamter hole at the bottom (of the funnel shape), obviously, to let rain water drain out of this thing. In about 20 minutes around this thing, I found at least 120 coins, mostly pennies, but some nickels and dimes too, and 1 quarter. The kids must play with the money inside this bowl shaped thing. Under the very center, dirctly under the hole, I found a pile of coins buried in the chips. It was one gigantic signal. So if you ever see one of these things, detect it. I had my camera, but unfortunately, the batteries decided to die on it (lithiums too) so I did not get a photo of it. Next time I am in the area, I will get a shot of it. Totals from here were 2-1/2 hours hunt time, 195 coins for $5.77 face.

So my day 1 totals were 5 or so hours hunt time, 390 coins (a new personal record for one day) for $18.44 face value. A great start to the contest!
