2 firsts make for a nice day

It was a beautiful day to be out in the water! The temps were in the low 80's and and the water felt great! About an hour or so into the hunt I came across a ray swimming in my direction. So, since I'm not real sure how dangerous they can be, I gave it plenty of room to pass. About 20 minutes later, I see a group of 3 rays headed straight towards me. So, I got out of their way as well. Now, they were not that big, maybe 12 inches across, but why risk an incident. With the wildlife encounters out of the way, I was free to continue my hunt. The targets were not plentiful but there were more than I've been getting. Fortunately few were trash. I found my first necklace (on land or sea) just on the north side of the pier. My first ring taken from the water was found in a trough at the north end of the beach. I also found 2 quarters not far from the ring in the same trough. Unfortunately, both the ring and the necklace were junk. I ended up with $1.97 and very little trash. In my eyes, things are starting to get better. I can't wait until next Monday!

Good to here things are on the way up there, water temps are getting better & more people in the water. Nice finds & pic.

Hey Willie ,, Nice going on the finds :thumbsup:

, The rays are not aggressive towards us . However you have to be careful entering the water , shuffle your feet while your in the water metal detecting so you don't step on one .. stay safe Guzz1

Congrats on the 2 firsts, even if they're junkers it's still nice to see a ring and chain in the scoop :thumbsup:

Thanks for the info Guzz1. I knew about the shuffling your feet part. I had never encountered one just swimming around. They were cool to see in the wild though.

Thanks Glenn. The junk still gave me a thrill. I knew they were both junk about 2 seconds after the shock wore off.

Hearing that clang of a ring is always a great sound. All I have been finding is junk rings too. At least the coins are plentyful, helps ofset the parking.

I guess since its mostly kids out there, they cant afford the gold or silver.
