I read through the posts but might have missed it - are the coin like objects really coins or just made to look like coins? If the coins are real, then it's just a modern reproduction made to look old.

Here is a reverse of the mystery coin, i was working on new pictures of the coins and battery died i will post more coin photos soon.
Also a photo of a a new bead i found, i found this bead inside a larger bead, this bead is twice as small as the next smallest, really tiny, and the only really tiny one.

Look at left side the first bead after the large smooth one the bead directly across apears to be an identical bead. And I've found at least one more that looks like a match. The coins are cool and I hope it real I just noticed it

My beads are not bicone,
Most of my beads have visible seam marks, so pretty certain they are not cast.
Perhaps they came from overseas along time ago, personaly i doubt it, still havent seen any beads that compare,
All of the beads in your link look like junk compared to mine. my beads far exceed all of them in quality and work. No offence

Seams WOULD indicate casting.

I have researched this piece for you Joe.
And I have an opinion on this for you.
Care to hear ?

Yes aarc please share.
I know what a seam from casting looks looks like,
You can see my seams were soldered closed leavng a very deep seam, indented not potruding. Also there is only one seam per bead, if it was cast wouldnt there be 2 seams? A casting seam would Polish away..
I tried get close up phtos of the seams on my new pics .

Sorry... Long weekend...
Ok...
IMO... REPEAT IMO...

This / These are the real deal.

Now... with this said I would add that I think at some point it has bee restrung by someone who did not restring in correct order.
I think the piece broke at one time and the original order of the beads and coins were restrung.
This is merrily my opinion based on no real fact(s)... but a sense of logic based on my knowledge on these type of items.

MOST of the time when you have a piece like this... "thought" has been placed into a "meaning" or "significance" in the "structure" and "numbers"... OR design.
In this case they are "random"...
WHICH MAY or may not be true.
But...
These beads are no "new"... they are also IMO not "reproduced" / "reproductions".
These are "barrel" beads in the area of trade and made into a religious "rosary"...
The coins IMO are to bring "wealth".
And I can go on and on as to why I have formed my opinion on this piece.
Back to my opinion on your piece.

Summed up ... This is...
IMO...
"Right as rain". :)

Oh and...
A truly unique... remarkable... amazing...
And every other kick arse word you can think of...
Piece of "personal" history.
And I would have also purchased this piece upon seeing it as well.
WD.

PS>. - Disclaimer - I am not a "knowitall"... I am just a wizard apprentice... SO... Take my opinion "as is"... My opinion.. :) :P

Also...
Take a close microscopic close up on one the those BIGGER beads.. the ones with the lines.

I believe the lines on some of them... have been carved with a knife.

I had no knowledge that there was only 1 seam...
knowing this only confirms my suspicions on this piece and makes me lean even further onto the side of legitimacy.

This means the gun brass / gun bronze type of metal was a single flat piece that has been beaten round on a mandrel then heated closed.
Again...
Then hand carved.
This "polish" you refer to... yes... polished originally... but mostly I believe that is "wear". :)

Thank you aarc,

Fyi for anyone following this post and interested.
I have called and emailed my local university last friday.
History, religious studies and sociology anthropology departments.
I will call them again soon.
Perhaps they can help taking photos of the unidentified coin, or maybe test the metal, or maybe even help find some similar objects to show.

Yes when i said polished i used it as a not so clear synonym i ment to say years of wear

And perhaps it was restrung ,i realy hope not id hate to think the story in the peice was lost. I hope the maker simply didnt used the placement or numbers for the story and hopefuly it is intact and the story is only in the medal or the coins. If there is one, research does tell me there would be.

Just a quick note, i have looked for significant events occuring at the dates of the coins,
1773 pretty big one... Boston Tea Party?
