Hey folks, I don't know how this idea will go, but I figure if this thread is a success, it would save the forum from having a page of individual posts about 2012 finds... so,

please post your 2012 crh finds here, pictures or not, and if you have stories, go for it!!

2012 CRHing Finds:

1 90% Kennedy
12 40% Kennedy

14 Proofs
------------
10 Kennedy Half Proofs (One of them was a 1968-S 40%er)
2 Dime Proofs
2 Nickel Proofs

10 Buffalo Nickels
22 Silver War Nickels

12 Wheats

1 Silver Quarter

5 FDRs

Total of 4.0646 oz, which for me being as small time and having such crappy luck in my area is pretty dang good.

2012 Purchased:

15 War Nickels

58 Silver dimes (bought lot of coins on eBay with 1960 proof quarter for ~$8 and it came with a 1943 Merc and $.75 in clad quarters; sold the proof quarter for $10, got the Merc for free)

4 Silver Quarters (All Barbers)
1960 Silver Proof Quarter (SOLD, but I'll count it in the total)

1953 BU Franklin Half
1964 Kennedy Proof (Regular, not Accented Hair)
2 1964 Kennedys
9 40%ers (4 of them are BU 1968-D)

1922-P Peace Dollar
1926-P Peace Dollar [semi-key] in really good shape (free, gift from my awesome cousin)

1970 Mint Set
1976-S Silver Proof Set
2009 Silver Proof Set
2011 Silver Proof Set
2012 Silver Proof Set

5 1909 Pennies (bought on eBay for $3.80, flipped 4 of them for ~$11, kept the other for my coin folder)

Total of 14.42653 oz bought/gifted to me this year.

Final total of 18.49113 oz received this year.

I've bought WAY more silver than I've found this year, but I'm still happy with my finds and what I've bought/been given. I'm hoping for about 10-15 Toz this year and I plan to step up with my half dollars, dimes, and nickels. Happy hunting everyone!

Happy 2013 all.

2012's volume was the largest yet for me:

(1356 boxes of halves) = 398 90's and 2926 40's
(714 boxes of dimes) = 1337 dimes
(207 boxes of nickels) = 293 war nickels
(61 boxes of quarters) = 18 quarters

I will post my own totals but here is some 921.8 oz about 28 lbs funny money about $170 in proofs

MY FAVORITE HOBBY EVER!!!! Started in April, all dumps go into coin counters. Several trips done by bike. Best one day find was around 80 silver halfs, all from one BOA. I started out nervous with the tellers, now I'm mr. Cool.

Thank you tnet volunteers. Sincerely.

My 2012 totals are in my signature. Quite dissappointed as I had to cut my volume way down due to lack of supply/dump banks; plus my half dollar finds have been way down from 2011.

On a bright note, I was given a collection from a 90-year old relative over Christmas that I have yet to go through completely. He was a cash hoarder his entire life, having lived through the great depression and not trusting banks. So far I have looked at 23 Peace dollars, 40 Morgan's (most common dates with the exception of a 1879cc), and a 1893 Columbian half dollar. I still have to go through several rolls of quarters, some half dollars, misc. pennies, nickels, dimes, and a jar full of what appears to be all Merc dimes (hoping there is a 1916-d in there somewhere).

Here's wishing everyone a very silvery 2013!

I started out in July as a very casual hunter. A box of dimes a week. By August I doing around four boxes of dimes on the average week with the occasional two boxes of halves.
-40 wheats
-4 buffaloes
-3 war nickels
-26 rossies
-1 merc
-1 silver proof quarter ( sniped it from a register)
-61 40%
-12 90%
- around 145 in Ike's

I'm sitting in an airport right now so the numbers may be just one or two off on the 40% 's and the dimes. HH for 2013!

WOW! I got a collection from my uncle, but it was nowhere near that (it had an Austrian gold coin [.11 toz] and a silver coin, the rest was base metal)

I started about a month ago.

1 - 90% 1964 Kennedy
24 - 40% Kennedy
1 - 1964 Washington

I bought the quarter rolls after I seen an elderly lady cash them in a couple of people before I got to the teller. Teller told me they were just regular quarters. Lol.

I believe I am going to try to make this a hobby if I can find a little more time. :) Tough when I work the same hours that the bank is open during the week except for extended Friday hours.

Good luck to you all in 2013!!!

Nice job with the quarter. My one silver quarter for 2012 came from the first box of quarters I ever went through. I got another box the following week and pulled a clad Balboa so I decided to divert my money to other denominations that produce better results.

I'm in the same boat as you working Monday through Friday from 9 to 5. I can actually get away with working 9:30 to 5:30 so I may start visiting banks before work and up my weekly volume. I don't want to over use my dump banks though and I currently have 4 and don't want to visit each more than once a week.

My totals:

Barber: 1 (1906- came out of 3 solid rolls of 90s)
Walkers: 40
Bens: 53
90% Kens: 104
40% Kens: 933
Wash: 5
Mercs: 2
Roosies: 41
War nicks: 14
Indian: 1

Total of 215 oz.
Also pilled a 50-d Jeff and a nice 18-d Buff

Good year for me. Good luck in 2013 everyone!
