A creek called Mary

As Spring approaches and we start dusting off last seasons gear and renewing permits, I thought you all could use a bit of motivation to remind you to never settle for crumbs, keep the dream alive, we all have an opportunity to find that ancient channel. Back when I prospected in BC, this was posted by our local placer association, it’s an article from a magazine, author now deceased sadly, Bill was a local legend. If you want to see more, Bill had numerous books and is all over YouTube, “Gold Trails and Ghost Towns”. I hope you enjoy and it motivates you.

Yea we have it pretty easy don’t we, compared to to the ones in the original gold rush.

A group of my friends always go on long backpacking trips to alpine areas. When we want to have some shade, we can only find giant boulders to sit under. And we are all relativley short.... so we decided to call ourselves bouldertrolls

Pleasant surprise to see Mary Creek mentioned as we know it well. My son helped install a bridge over Mary Creek at their camp. The Toops are just great people as Terry showed
my son the banks where they would go pick out nuggets and in the shed they had wood plank shelving with quart jars full of gold and when more supplies were needed they headed into Quesnel and traded gold for food, supplies etc.. I have some placer claims in this area and if Lady Luck & Mother nature are on our side hopefully later in the season will post what gold we may find........... I’m a Canuckistanian and owned/own claims in BC, BC history is amazing.. looking forward to seeing your recovery.. RIP Bill Barlee.
