255 coins in one hole!

Hi Everyone,

I took the AT Pro out Saturday because the temps were in the 70's. I went to an area that had old houses that were cleared for pending construction.

I was out of the vehicle for less than fifteen minutes when this find was made. I tried around the base of one tree, then a second tree. At the second tree, I got a reading for a coin. So, like we all do, I started digging.

45 minutes later, the readings had stopped and I had pulled a total of 255 coins out of one hole. This is the largest amount of coins I have found in one hole so far.





I haven't cleaned any of them yet. But, it looks like all pennies. Still 255 in one hole.

Also found a 1955 coke bottle in the same hole.

Nice! that's $2.55, but are they zinc? I see they're memorials, so are there any wheats? WHo buries $2.55 unde a tree? when he buried them (if they are zincolns), it still would've been worth only about $2.55. And we all know you don't carry that many zinc pennies in the park unless you have a good detector.

It was on the property border between two lots.

I remember a couple friend of mine used to bury all their change to hide it from their thieving brothers and sisters. They buried it under the bushes in the front yard.

That is the largest modern penny haul I've ever seen here from one hole - incredible ! (I can see some zincolns , hope you got copper too)
