$30 Clovis at KY antique store?!??

Hi all
I stopped at the same antique store in KY this week and the owner found this in her “junk” bin. She said she had it for years and apparently found near the KY, TN border on a farm years ago. I’m not an expert but this looks Clovis like. Does it look authentic? I paid $30 for it-I’m a frequent customer there so I got a deal of it’s real . What do you think? One side has a lot of cortex. Nice flute on one side.
Any ideas?

I say it’s an old form, I don’t know if I see a true flute, I see the flat part but if I’m not mistaken most flutes will have a hinge or similar type fracture at the top, that side just looks like the result of an early thinning strike… but hopefully I’m wrong.

No not at all.
She had it kicking around for years in the junk bin.
Usually junk bins are for items heavily discounted.

When you say old form, can you elaborate for me? Even if it’s not a Clovis, does it look ancient to you? For $30 I took a gamble

I can’t speak for authenticity but I mean paleo to transitional that base is most common around that time. There are even unfluted Clovis which I could believe this point is if an expert told me so. I also don’t buy points but if it’s real and old I don’t think 30$ is bad at all, I’d be happy to have it at that price

Certainly not a authentic Clovis, looks rather fresh to me… far to thick, a true Clovis would be finely worked and thin as a potato chip… Hey, it’s only 30 bucks, you took a chance.. woop dee doo…✌️

I don't think it's a authentic Clovis either. I circled some hinge fractures I wouldn't expect to see on a Clovis regardless of what it was made from.

Hard to tell from a picture but Clovis flaking is usually much better and they always used really good material. Cortex is not something you'd expect to see.

That flat spot of cortex looks flat enough to be a cut from a rock saw. It doesn’t have the 12,000 yr old look to me.

I also do not think it's genuine, the flaking does not look right at all, seems almost random in nature, dont like the cortex, I also do not see any patina on it either, from the pictures posted.

Yeah that’s not an authentic piece it has no patina on it! You can see tiny shimmering flakes on it do to some kind of metal tool used to flake it! I have never seen a Clovis with cortex on it! You are only out 30 bucks a lot better then hundreds of dollars!

I agree with others that this is not an authentic OLD relic. In my view, this is a point made from a larger broken blade.

This image looks to have old patina with fresh knapping ,shaping the now seen point.
