7 silver day! WOOHOO!!

Hello! I got out for a few hours today down by the University of Oregon. 4 silver coins and 3 pieces of marked silver jewelry! I think this is my first silver jewelry marked 950 instead of 925! COOL!

1924 Mercury dime, 1952-D Rosie dime, 1954-D Rosie dime, and 1964-D Rosie dime. Weird to dig 4 silver coins and only 2 wheat cents! The silver ring is marked 925 THAILAND, and the pendant with a turtle image is marked TSM STERLING. I also dug about $6 in modern pocket change!

The stamping .950 or 950 refers to the platinum content on a piece of jewelry or other white metal item. This typically means that the item is 95% platinum + 5% alloy.

EagleDown - In conjunction with platinum there should be another mark PL. or PT. or Platinum . I have seen silver jewelry marked .950
I dug a silver pendant made in Mexico with the .950 designation .

You're probably right. I just copied that off of one of the "Ask.com" sites. In any case, if I found jewelry with 950 on it, I'd have it checked out, just for the heck of it. (lol)
