Hit th beach Sunday because it’s shotgun deer season here. Boy I’m glad I did. Iv been working a beach that had a large amount of dredge sand from a local harbor distributed along its shore. After pulling a 1899 barber was feeling content and happy to head home with a bit of silver in my pocket. Had made the turn to head back and was hunting just on the edge of the dry sand with my atpro when I got a 90 repeat dug it and a bronze doorknob came out two steps later 94 repeat thinking I had the other half of the doorknob I half heartedly dug. Bang! 1748 never looked so good. Needless to say lots of yelling and cursing. She weighs in at 26.2g such a beautiful coin so pumped. Haven’t posted in a while but couldn’t not share this one oh my god!

That’s a beaut! Pretty good condition for a salt water beach find? (I’m assuming) they are very tough coins !! Must have been very hard to cut them into pieces of 8 back in the day!!

Congratulations!

Really nice find! I've found one 8 reale in my detecting career, and hard to describe what a feeling it is to see such a large silver coin laying in the hole. Hope to someday be lucky enough to experience that again.
