90% silver halves

I have yet to find one after searching 7 boxes.....but I was curious as to how much luck others have had in finding the pre-1965 halves ?? HH 7up

got 2 '64's in Loomis box last week. 35 boxes searched. I got 2 Bens from a super teller I deal with. gave her some cupcakes last week. if I was 20 years younger, a whole lot better looking and had a few million in cash, she could be mine. a Key Bank goddess!!!. always show her my stuff, wish I could see her stuff :-)

After 2.5 years of CRHing and almost 200 boxes plus a bunch of CWR's, I have averaged a 5:1 ratio of 40% to 90%.

Of course my first cwr find was 18 to 40 with some barbers, walkers, and bens in a solid roll, a solid roll of 64's, and an almost solid roll of 40%'s. So, averages can be deceiving. I also had a double dream box of 237-40%'s which skews the average.

Anyway, good luck finding those 90%'s.

So far this year out of about 90 boxes, thousands in cwr and hundreds in teller tray finds I have accumulated

(16) Bens
(55) 1964 Kens

For about 1 full year I hunted the banks in Tucson, didn't order boxes there, just would spend 1 day a week driving bank to bank, credit union or anything I thought might have coins. NEVER found a 90% there. Not saying there are none, I just never found any. I did find many 40% so don't give up, keep hunting and find the ones I never got! There are well over 100 banks and credit unions in that area so I'm sure I missed a bunch.

Its gonna be different in every area in the country- DO NOT base your area on a measly 7boxes- my avg is about 1 90% every 20 boxes and 1 40 every 7boxes

I averaged somewhere around 1 90%er per 30 boxes if I remember correctly.

Really you could actually make more money by getting a job delivering pizzas. Then take your pizza money and buy Ag. But, that wouldn't be ANY fun because it would be work.

Bottom line is, grab it when and where you can and enjoy the ride.

If you wanna make money, get a haircut, shave, clean yourself up and go deliver some pizzas!

So far I average something like 1 40% silver every 6 rolls of half dollars and yes rolls.

I find at least one 90% per 8 or so 40%... but I find less than one silver per box. So maybe 1 every 10 boxes.

I hardly even found 90% halves in boxes starting back in 2009 - hand rolled OTOH!!!

Four boxes. (1) 69, (3) 64 and (1) 51...that'd be a Benjamin! Not many, but quality!!

IMO it is really a luck and numbers game. The more boxes you look through, the more chances you will have. Averages can be very deceiving. For example, I got a dream box earlier this year and got over 200 silvers with about 40 being 90%ers. But I also went through a ton of skunks. So, the average you really want is a two-fold statistic. First how many silver to skunk. Then of that, how many 90 to 40%ers. I've been doing CRH for 6 months now and I get 2 boxes a week of halves. I've gotten skunked more times than not. I've hit huge 1 time (200+) and good twice (16 and 10). The rest were either skunks or onsies or twosies. The big hit was 1:3, the good hit was 1:5 and the onsies and twosies are 1:7 or 1:8...Brad

I've had MANY 7 box streaks without a 90%. I'm looking at my stats now and I see a 22 box streak without a 90% but the box that broke that streak had five 90%. 7 boxes just isn't a big enough sample size to get an accurate representation. I've done 206 boxes on the year and have kept meticulous stats:

I have averaged one 90% for every 3.81 boxes, so if you were in my area I'd say statistically you were due for one or two.

My ratio of 90%/40% has been 1:3.41 and my skunk percent had been hovering around 70% for the year, however a fruitful July has dropped it to 65%.
