Last weekend, I wasn't able to go detecting because there was a dirt bike event in the area where I usually detecting and they wouldn't let me through. That really annoyed me, since it's a public area. But anyway, I hope to get out this coming weekend. However, today—after work—I decided to head out for a couple of hours, and here is what I found.

It was the event organizers; their explanation was that they had paid to use the only road leading to the detection site.
Around here, the only way you could get away with that would be if everyone going to see the bike event had to pay to get in. If the public could go in free to see the event, the organizers couldn’t keep you out.

The Virginia City Grand Prix off-road race. My club started it and did it for 30 years. I've raced it and worked it for many years. Now another club does it.
BLM requires the purchase of a special permit and requires the road closures for safety. At least it's only once a year.
