The ground is indeed frozen solid here, but that does not stop a pick ax. I went back to a stretch of road that my father both have permission on, there are fields on either side for a good ten miles and about 5-6 pre 1830s and late 1790s home sites. I decided to search a home site in a field that we had not done much in but the last time we went to it we had dug up around 5 or six forks and spoons. This was also in the general area that I found my 1825 Capped Bust Dime and 1772 King George III Half Penny. I could not dig many holes due to the 1 foot thick layer of frozen dirt on top of the unfrozen layer, but I was able to pull my first Draped Bust, an 1802 Draped Bust Large Cent:
