Monday afternoon my big truck had to go in the shop and wont be done till Tuesday afternoon. What to do.... oh I know! Made some arrangements for Tuesday! So off I go to meet up with some buds on tuesday, but it was early yet, so I decide to kill some time at a soy stubbled field in berks county, before the guys got to our predetermined location. Kinda glad I did, 1st 1700's coin, 1st english coin,1st colonial coin. Anyway, Im pretty sure it isnt worth all that much, but sheesh it sure does look nice. Peroxide dipped 3 times, rubbed with a bamboo bbq stick and then olive oiled. I also found a couple buttons and a nice looking 43 merc, the merc was no more than a foot away from this guy!

So once I got done where I met up with the fellers I was behind the 8ball, had to run to get the truck from the garage and haul butt to pick a load up going to jackson tn, so then Im dieing I tell ya, driveing through Va, across Tn sitting next to my machine with NO time to nuts around, I didnt have time to run home and drop the detector off. The fire got lit and fizzled out whenever I looked at the clock :laughing9: And now its raining all weekend >:(

Thats a great find. I am still looking for my colonial copper. It really turned out nice too :icon_thumright:

Cleaned up nice Jeff !

Looks like 1740's ?

Congratulations! :icon_thumright: Yes indeed, looks like a nice 1749 George II copper to me! I can't tell form the pic, is that a farthing or a half penny? FYI, a half penny is about the size of a large cent.

Yup 1749 half penny, thanks. Ill show it to ya when we get together next jeff.

you don't see to many 1700 coins on here. you shocked me when you showed me that. good job..

Thanks Jim, sure did clean up nice, some parts of it could even be called unc, if it wherent for the corrosion.
