These are the results of my last two hunts. Six hours on an intown green this past sunday in the rain And 4 hours the sunday before on the same green . I promised my self I would finish gridding the entire green but still have a few more passes to make . The keeper finds were not fast and furious on this green as you can see but I also found 4 wheaties, a fair amount of clad and some nonferrous scrap metal. The shield shaped mount with the flower design on it was the first good find on the first day . The stained glass piece coming out of the ground in a trashy area sure surprised me. It was not chiped on the bottom when I found it but took damage in my bag :( I finished up the day adding the 1864 New Brunswick Victoria cent in pretty decent shape and a toasted civil war token to add to the tally. The last six hours in the rain produced the best find from this site so far. A two piece Eagle button with P L I above the eagle and Co. A below . I could not find another pic. example of the button online but did find a description from a collection that described the button as Pennsylvania light Infantry circa. 1880s to 1900. Post civil war . It was produced by the A. C. Marien & CO. Philadelphia. The big sash buckle was really deep 12 inches or so but still made a good coin sound. The 1 cent food stamp of some sort was an eyeball find in the mddle of a worn down trail. It appears to be made of some sort of plastic like an early plastic poker chip. An 1898 Barber dime, an 1896 Indianhead , a 1935 merc , a no date V nickel , and the cute little lock rounded up the day ! Thanks for looking ! MaineRelic

Crazy its the second in a week....I have dug them, and seen others come from 1850's-sites

I like the Pennsylvania Button! Wouldn't mind having one in my collection.

Now that New Brunswick coin is pretty cool.

It's neat being able to find some Canadian things being so close to the border.

I guessed the lock to be pretty much in the same age range as the New Brunswick penny and the eagle button last half of the 19th century .

LOL LOL LOL LOL That cracked me up, good one Bearbqd!

I also zone out the other relics/coins when IDing a piece, as you can fall into a trap of thinking its that period. However, in this case I'm pretty sure the Shield with flower is the similar date to the gold plated sash buckle/clasp (& a few other items/coins in the picture). ie. late 19th C, pressed copper & probably once guilded, the only visible form of attachment looks to be broken off the centre middle top (reverse). Other than that, never seen one, so can't say what it went on.

Very good results ... for a moment I thought I'd hunt in Europe. :o
