When I was digging in a hole looking for metal, I found all sorts of things. I found some pottery and glass pieces, with big chunks still in the hole, the pieces I got were in just a couple of inches of ground, the stuff in the photos is about 8 to 10 inches of ground. As I kept checking the hole, after I found metal, I'd find some more. That is how I ended up so deep.

I didn't want to break the big pieces or disturb it if what is down there is anything special, so I marked the spot and thought I'd post this here on the forum, to see if anyone could help me out.

If you think I should do something dig it up or contact someone please share your thoughts. Also if you know what any of it is, please share your thoughts on that too!

I am also posting this in the "What is it" Forum, but I thought this might be a better place for answers.

I found nails, a handle, strange shaped metal objects, I think an old oil lamp, a round thing about the size of an Oreo cookie with a design on both sides. I also found a round metal thing with wire wrapped on some place on the side. There was also a round wheel like thing, and another thing I don't know what it is.

I found rocks, petrified wood (possibly two), one that may be an old tool. It is really comfortable in your hand. I know nothing about old tool rocks, so feedback on that would be appreciated too.

I also found all sorts of different glass, some blue that changes color with the light, other blue glass, brown, clear, pieces of china, and etc.

Sure would appreciate thoughts and comments.
Thanks, Cindy

Nice digging. Looks like they used that area as a dump area, I would look around for a cellar hole.
Another new term for me, I Googled it and it looks very interesting. I will look around! Thanks for the tip.

that looks like ash in the hole, it was a dump pit or privy. the oldies are at the bottom. nice find :icon_thumleft: Go slow use a small hand rake also you can dig down next to the pit then over to the goodies
Good tip, I will I can't wait until it stops raining so I can go and check it out! Thank You!

Nice :icon_thumright: , keep diggin !! The petrified wood looks just like the stuff we find here,South Park. Not very agatized ?
Not real sure what that means, but I guess not! I looked it up and I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two. Thanks for the comments and teaching me another new term!

OK, you caught me on that one. Usually, I don't bite on something THAT obvious. You got me. :notworthy:

Whats the big round wheel looking object with the holes in it.? I found one too earlier in the year.

Actually, I was afraid my 14 year old granddaughter knew what it meant........and she did! So I had to peretend innocence. There was a lot of whispering and smirking going on between her and my 11 year old granddaughter. I let them read the posts on Tnet as I am trying to get them interested in treasure hunting. That piqued their interest for sure. Guess I'll have to proof read from now on? Monty

If you are talking about the object by the red Sharpie, I believe that to be a pulley.

Hi Nick,
I have that posted on the forum too. you can find some more answers here: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,456805.0.html

Thanks man! I guess that's the 2nd barn door hoist i've found this year.
No problem, I was hoping it was something more exciting myself, like a wheel from a mining cart! LOL
