A 'KILLER' North Carolina BannerStone

This BannerStone was found on April 8,2013 in a plowed field, after a rain storm. This is
very rare to find one that in intact, most are broken at the hole. This one will never leave my collection.

Killer find. Awesome!! I need one.

OUTSTANDING! & Congratulations.

That is amazing. I have only found one-half of one.

nice find congrats HH

That is a beauty!
I think I may have a perform also from NC... I received in a trade..would you mind if I posted for your opinion?

That is beautiful. I know you will cherish is. Thanks for sharing it and you are right most are busted at one time or another.

That is a great great find! Then to say "field find" adds that much more to its beauty. Is it slate or rhyolite? I have found tiny pieces of polished banded slate in fields, but not even enough to speculate what kind of artifact it once was. Nice find! You just set your personal bar really high!

Great find. They are super rare to find whole any longer. Congrats. That should be a banner find!!!

If this piece went up for the banner vote, it would have mine. 30 years ago, these type finds were much more frequent. I guess it's because tobacco slips were hand planted. Don't know? I wander just how many stellar pieces get busted by the plow every year. Better yet, are they busted, or simply not found??

Great find, congratulations!

No I do not mind always love to see finds from North Carolina. Thanks!

Top shelf find. Two thumbs up, be tough to top that this Spring.

That is an incredible find! I'm excited when I find a broken point or even just worked flakes. Something like that would be a dream come true for me. Congrats!

Awesome find!! So what is the concensis of what these stones were used for? Part to an atlatl? My theory it that the more finely made an artifact is, the more if a precision use it had to of been for. The arrow head for example was precision made to cut through the air straight without veering off.

I think they were just use for atlatl weight, but who knows what else they may have been use for. Some say the finer ones may have been a symbol of power or rank?
