Have you ever seen or even heard of a 20 cent piece!?

So far, this is my favorite and the oldest silver coin I have found. Found it at an old house property in my little town.:headbang:

You are on a roll !! This one is the rarest of the three posted so far; only 100,000 minted (and 0.925 silver!!). The 20-cent piece was popular until the Canadians thought it was too confusing with their 25-cent piece, so the NFL '20' was changed to a 25 cent coin starting in 1917. BTW, the "H" below the date is not a mint mark but the designer of the reverse's first initial: Horace Morehen.
At this rate you may soon find the $2.00 gold coin (1865-1888).

Don......

I found a 26 Newfoundland silver five cent cache. All dates around the wwii era. Also dug some small cents but more large cents. Mostly victorian era. My favorite Newfoundland find though is the 1870 five cents i found in my yard! Probably some more stuff in the collection but i cant remember right now!

Newfoundland coins are so beautiful and yet in the collecting world so under appreciated ; they are always a joy to find!

Second that one, and congrats on the silver.

HH,
Don......

I know your the man on coin info but could you explain more on not calling the H below the date a mint mark? I always read everywhere that it is the Heaton mint mark in England and any Newfoundland and Canada victorian coins with the H are minted in England. No mint mark minted in Canada.
