I was detecting with 5 friends last week when I stumbled upon a find that still has me shaking my head. We were searching an overgrown semi wooded area. After finding a bracelet partly exposed in the leaves then another one I figured I might just be on to something interesting. Well that thought soon came true as I started removing piece after piece of jewelry, coins, and many misc items from the dirt. I dug these items for two hours, went back the next day for another 1.5 hours and then spent 2 hours cleaning and sorting. It sure was fun finding all of this and sharing the adventure with my friends. In total there are over 160 items including at least 4 gold rings, a gold ear ring, gold ear ring back, and one gold filled ear ring. Also 3 silver rings, 3 silver ear rings, and a silver bracelet. There are several vintage jewelry items and the rest of the jewelry is mostly costume. There were 11 Mexican coins 7 of which are half dollar sized or bigger. This stash/cache of jewelry and misc. items is a find I won't soon forget.

Really cool find, and from the condition of the stuff probably there for a while. As suggested before, I would assume from a theft. With the two class rings it might not be to hard to locate the owners, if your group were inclined to to so. There might be an old lady that would look great in those earrings again. Great stuff, and congratulations!!!

Wow what a find

Fantastic recovery, way to go! If it was a stash from a burglar in the 70's, there probably would be no record of it in police files now. The class ring angle is the best bet to return anything that can be returned, if not, enjoy your loot! Sub 8-)

I agree with the robbery idea for sure. possibly multiple? Class rings lack enough info to find owners. The coins are from the 70's. I believe this has been there 20 years ish based on depth of many of the items and the corrosion on several of the items. A BANNER find in my book! :)

Absolutely amazing! That's some real buried treasure. Congrats on a great find!

Wow, what a haul man. I love that Masonic ring...seriously cool. Nicely done.

As others have said, Probably from a burglary. Two of the rings look like class rings. If so, you might be able to find the owners.

Real nice haul Mike , congrats .. cheers Mick

Thank you for all the comments everyone.

That must have been some thrill to keep digging until you hade a total of 160 items.
Yep,, the first thing I thought was, Robbery.
Quite a few theories but not enough information to trace it back to the original owner (s).
Congrats on your finds.

Hi, I am new here you Sir have found 2 Unique Rings there 1 is from secret order of of the Stone Masson's. other Gold Rings with shield like belongs to another order which I cannot say. Gratz

Great find. Reminds me of the stolen jewelry I found last year in the kudzu patch

Awesome find Mike,
"probably" as has been said stolen "loot" ?
I can imagine the rush of pulling item, after item from the dirt.
There actually might be one near me, as one of my friends was robbed, the thief caught near by without any of the goods ?

That is amazing congrats..

Yeah likely items Either dropped by accident (by a burglar) or the items he/she did not want.

Over the past few years I have come across a few patches like that , the last one was last summer in the middle of the woods (homes with-in a half mile , ) these usually contain mostly Costume Jewelry with a few small unmarked "Suspect" pieces & 1 or 2 good .925 or Gold pieces. I dated that find to the early 80's going by the type of items & the remnants of the Bag/Purse thingy they were end.

Years ago found an old High Dollar Burglar Spill , Very nice Items but they had been there at-least a Decade.

Def, fun to dig never knowing whats next , & thinking yr done but the Beeps Keep Coming.

That is quite amazing right there!:icon_thumleft:
Just wondering the first day digging all that stuff then going back for a second day wow no camera shots or video?
I would have tagged along a film crew on the second day!

My friend got two shots of me digging the first day. I was too excited to think about taking pics. Day two was just to see what was left and there was about 24 more pieces of small stuff. One of the matching sterling ear rings came day two.

That is quite amazing right there!:icon_thumleft:
