A Regular Guy?

Wish I could take credit for writing this, but just got this in an email. Seems worth sharing:



- I used to think I was just a regular guy, but…

- I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist.

- I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today’s standards, makes me a fascist.

- I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobe.

- I am a Christian, which now labels me as an infidel.

- I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which now makes me a member of the vast gun lobby.

- I am older than 60 and retired, which makes me a useless old man.

- I think and I reason, therefore I doubt much that the main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.

- I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive American culture, which makes me a xenophobe.

- I value my safety and that of my family and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing
extremist.

- I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti- socialist.

- I (and most of the folks I know), acquired a fair education without student loans (it’s called work) and no debt at graduation,
which makes me some kind of an odd underachiever.

- I believe in the defense and protection of the homeland for and by all citizens, which now makes me a militant.

- Please help me come to terms with the new me… because I‘m just not sure who I am anymore.

- I would like to thank all my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, new found changes in my life and my thinking!

- I just can’t imagine or understand what’s happen to me so quickly! Funny…it’s all just taken place over the last 7 or 8 years!

- As if all this wasn’t enough to deal with…I’m now afraid to go into either restroom!

Not politics.....LIFE!

The world ain't the same as it used to be. I never used to have anything against gay people, for example. But I don't EVER want to go into a public restroom and see a woman! I don't care if she believes she is Brad Pitt - I don't want any part of it. Now, depending on how such topics are brought up, they "can" be presented in a humorous manner. I'm not feeling so humorous today. Had a nasty-long trip to town yesterday and didn't get back until very late. Didn't sleep well the night before. Last night all I wanted (besides sleep) was to rip my ankle/foot off my leg! (old injury - coming back to bite me!) Was getting ready for bed when I checked the weather. Huge weather cell heading right for us!! We always unplug for such storms, so I stayed up. Unplugged computer and decided to go through some cents. Finished up the entire 2nd half of the box of cents(!!), but where's the weather? Where's the storm?? So finally at 4am, I fired up the PC and saw on another weather site that the cell had strangely diverted and went up into Canada. So I went to bed, VERY pissed!

Woke up this morning....ok, ok, this afternoon and was still peeved about the storm missing us. Then the wife said it didn't miss us. She mentioned how just as I had come to bed and passed out, the storm finally hit, and it hit with a vengeance! ....So excuse me, but I'm very tired and grumpy today.

If I offended you, sorry. Not my intent. I thought this was humorous and wanted to share. But to say that is 100% politics is just wrong!


NOTE: I sent Jeff_of_PA a PM asking about this post before posting it. He didn't have a problem with it. However, he said if it offended anyone that it would come down. I agree - I am not here to offend anyone. So if you somehow ARE offended by this post, and you just cannot seem to live life knowing that such a flagrant and nasty post be made here on Tnet, then by all means let me know so I can remove it.

KCM: I am not offended and you are entitled to your opinions.

However, if you think for a second that I agree with any part of what you posted, you are mistaken. It is absolutely not "life", as you call it. It is opinion, an interpretation based on bias, and only one side of the story. This is a (dumbed down, ignorant) response to current events/issues while completely invalidating and pretending that there is only one (correct) side to all of these issues.

Well, not everyone can like every post. As for my reference (earlier), I "do" owe Ben and everyone else an apology. I had a bad day (and 1/2 the night) yesterday. That should never have made it into the forum. Please accept my apologies in that regard.

That said, there's nothing "political" about sexual preference, color of skin, religion, etc, etc, etc. Nothing, that is, until someone MAKES it political. Me? I'm not a political person. I avoid politics. I simply cannot stand people who try to argue things as politics when they clearly aren't. If something is green, it's green. If something is a rubber ball, it's a rubber ball. You can take a rubber ball to the beach, but that doesn't make all balls beach toys. You can even make rules for that beach (and all) beaches concerning rubber balls, but that STILL doesn't make them "Beach Toys".

The post was presented as entertainment. I'm not a fan of rap or heavy metal or opera, but those types of music are absolute musts for some people. Some people drive pickups while others drive sports cars, motorcycles or mini-vans.

...I guess the point I'm trying to make is, it's wrong to come out downing someone's post because you don't happen to agree with it. Different people can have different ideas, religions and even political views and still be friends. I like friends. Don't like having enemies. That said, please accept the OP for what it is - an entertaining post. Not entertaining for all (sadly), but apparently for some.

A friend and I are always at war on topics gets nasty at times.....If we weren't? we probably wouldn't have anything to talk about! Because in a sick way? It's all a laughing matter! It's one big GIANT joke!!!

It was funny too, we picked a couple of topics, and said, "ok, without bias, take out the filler, and get to fact." We have been chasing one of them for months now....There is no bottom! When you start digging!
