A stoneware jug I found last weekend.

I haven't posted on here in a while because I've working so much but I found this jug last weekend probing in the river and thought you guys might like to see it.

Very nice jug. Here is the original patent for it- Patent US265540 - ASSIGITOBS - Google Patents

The dark brown glaze around the top in known as Albany slip and the bottom portion is salt glazed. One recently listed on eBay didn't sell but I would still value it @ around $50.

Thanks' for the nice comments everyone. Anne, it's a gallon jug so it might of been whiskey or cider? I really don't know what else they would of put in them. Lakedweller, it was by the side of the river under 6" of sand so i'm sure that's how it stayed intact. This was only the 2nd whole one that I have found in 20 years so when I was digging around it I really thought it would be broken. I also found an amber hock wine bottle that is 14" tall and a aqua quart beer or soda bottle from the 1880's to the 1890's - R. Dederich East Saginaw Mich. I found a older amber one from the same guy a few years ago and I was happy to come out with 3 things I have never found. Man that water is cold I almost got frostbite putting my arm in the water digging that hock wine bottle out that was wedged in between 2 logs. LOL.

Cant do search now but I would definately be looking along that riverside some more. I think last winter spoiled me-was able to hunt almost every day it seemed. Not gonna happen in negative wind chills and solid ground. I agree with Mike, lets see the rest!

Here are the pictures of the 2 other bottles that I found last weekend. The 1st picture is the hock wine with a quart mason jar for size. The 2nd is The aqua R. Dederich bottle with the amber beer that I found a couple of years ago.
