This radio show does a good job of explaining the reasons why the there is a shortage of ammo. At least it kind of makes sense to me, but then I'm easy, so make up your own mind. It's a bit of a twist from what I've been thinking. The link won't work automatically, but if you copy and past it will open: Weapons Manufacturer: DHS Attempting to Exhaust Ammo Supplies | XRepublic

I take it back, for some reason it does work to click on the link.

so the ammo makers signed contracts with the gov voluntarily? The gov isn't forcing them to sell against their will then? interesting

I never heard of manufacturers being forced into any sales. Though I wish they would take a stand and tell them to you know what. But $$$$$$$.

What a bunch of crap the gov is pulling. It just makes me smile to think i cast my own bullets, recycle my cases and have more powder and primers than i care to mention here. Eat it liberals.

Manufacturers sell to the gov first over any body else. Government gets first take. It isn't that they are forced to but the have a contract that they voluntarily agreed to with the gov.

the time to 'take a stand' is before you sign a legal contract. if they don't want gov business, don't sign

I think the Gov. has so many bullets that they had to close the White House tours for storage space.:dontknow:

Folks, ammo is just not that difficult to manufacture - many of you do it yourself. If manufacturers believe that this demand will be sustained long term they will ramp up the ability to manufacture ammo - new manufacturing capacity. It's an easily produced item and it is impossible to be angled to manipulate the market Long Term without the use of regulations etc. it's just simple economic - manufacturers will make and sell more if they can to make more money. My only question is why don't you folks back up the truck on the stocks of gun and ammo manufacturers if you think this level of demand is sustainable. Invest in what you know. Make enough to keep yourself in guns and ammo for the rest of your life!!

Thinking about it these contracts probably go back to before WW2 either that or after 9/11 when the country was going to war. I was wondering why ammo manufactures from Russia are not filling the void then? I buy alot of cheap ammo and alot is from Russia, Where is that ammo?

I wonder why the ammo manufacturers arn't joining the rush to jump on that list of gun makers who won't supply to police or Government agencies? Not seen anything about them dragging their factories out of states either. What was it P.T.Barnum said....?

I don't want to speak to dano but I think his point is that the ammo and gun manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank with the "ammo shortage" conspiracy. I bet Gillette wishes to god that the media would start talking about the razor shortage and that everyone better go out and hoard razor blades. This is just pure gold for NRA and big gun.

And I think the point also is that its mostly little gun makers that do t do any biz with the gov that are coming out and saying that they are boycotting the government. Notice that ark, s&w, ruger, freedom, glock, etc are NOT announcing that they are.boycotting the gov. Why do you think that is? Best.

Either way I just wish ammo was back on the shelves and all was normal again...

we live in perilous times my friend

I just want my ammo supply back so I can do some shooting.

Hype = $$$$$$$$$$ LMFAO I wonder how many of the people hoarding ammo are the same people who still have brand new generators in their Y2K shelters? Holy smokes...... the UN has all the bullets. Quick, shoot anyone wearing a baby blue hat.

It is a little scary how one's thought process can quickly head down the path to becoming quite irrational. Fear of the unknown can have a great impact on people ability to think rationally. Maybe some sort of hyper fight or flight mode? Ill leave it up to the professionals.

I went to the gun shop yesterday to pick up my recent gun purchase and in there they were saying all of these rounds the government is purchasing are hollow points. Hollow points are illegal in warfare and not needed for practice. Interesting point to speculate upon. Probably just rumor to add to the fire.

Packer guess what type of round almost every single US law enforcement person carries?
