Always Be Nice to the Tellers: With PIC

Stopped by one of my regular banks that I have a good relation with the tellers. Today and one of the tellers calls me over and says, "Hey I've got something for you". She continues to pull out two envelops containing the following:

1 - 1966 Kennedy
1 - 1964 Kennedy
1 - 1958 Franklin
1 - 1953 Franklin
1 - 1947 Liberty
1 - 1945 Liberty
1 - 1940 Liberty
1 - 1936 Liberty

And the best for last

1 - 1921 Morgan Dollar

A little chocolate and small talk can go along way in this hobby :icon_thumright:

AgentX - You are so right. It can change you from that guy that brings in all the coins, into a favorite customer. Actually it is just part of the training program. If they treat you well (with silver) they get a reward (chocolate). Sort of like teaching a puppy a new trick.

RP4L - Your wife would object to your tipping the teller, with a $4.00 bag of candy for selling you a $100 worth of silver at face?

Nice score on those 90%ers and the Morgan. Having teller friends is a big help in this hobby.

I have gotten a 1921 Peace dollar from CRHing... probably my best single coin find.

Did your teller know that they're silver and what they're worth? One of my bank teller from my order bank asks me about the value of coins. She told me she got a 1969 half dollar. I told her the truth which is close to $5.00. I figure that since I order from them.. might as just tell them what they're worth since they're nice enough to order for me. However, I would never expect them to save them or that many for me.

AgentX you are lucky! I USED to reward tellers with candy, gift certs, etc, until they wondered "wow-there must be somrthing good here for that guy to reward us for saving/ordering these dumb /ol coins."
Yes, a few caught on, and now they sell their finds to the traveling buyer, that sets up shop INSIDE THE BANK. I've even offered to pay more than the buyer, but no bites! ffd

The teller that took them in had no idea they were worth anything. The head teller at that branch new what they were and asked her to save them for me. It was a nice surprise, I've never asked them to save coins for me. My wife and I recently had a baby so, whenever I'm in there I'm talking about the kids and showing off pictures. I always tell them I'm saving the coins for my kids some day, which I am.
