Hey everyone. I have been coin roll hunting nickels and pennies up here in Canada for about two years now and currently get two boxes of pennies every week to sort through. This week I had my most incredible find to date. One of the boxes appears to have well over 2000 Wheat pennies! I have never found anything close to this before and thought I would share it with you all. I make videos of all of my finds week-to-week, so you can see the box and the contents of the first 5 rolls in this video here:

I also took a few pictures:

I will keep this thread updated with the totals as I go through the box.

Wow! that's beats my recent find of 16 solid rolls. Was the box all beat up and old, or was it simply packed with some old-timer's cash out (newer box)? I know we all dream of picking up a box that has a really old date stamped on it, no matter what denomination....

Amazing find with the 16 solid rolls! The box appears to be a newer box and is stamped with a date from 2012. It is definitely not beat up and old by any means. To speculate, I would guess that it is definitely an old timer's collection that was cashed in at some point.

I am finishing up the first video so the result of the first 250 pennies will be up shortly.

ok i'm not being rude, but what is the use of searching pennies? i mean is there really alot of money in old pennies?

Ohhhh! I didn't know that you had a treasurenet! I always watch your videos on YouTube! Keep it up!!

Find a box with a lot of wheats in Canada is like finding a box of Canadian silvers in America

I worry that so many people's collections,( gathered for years, decades, or lifetimes), are either being stolen by either drug addicts or common thieves(usually family members) and are winding up in circulation again, after decades of being tucked away in grannie's draws' drawer....Or , if like me, this economy is forcing me to sell my personal collection to feed everyone around here. Times are getting hard....But ! The good news is that some old coins are circulating a little again!

No worries, thank you for the question. I search them for copper pennies. There isn't much money in the copper pennies at the moment (maybe 1.5-2x face value), especially at the volume that I do. But hopefully in the future they will be worth more than that. A nice byproduct of searching for copper is finding Wheat pennies and King George pennies, which can be worth quite a bit more than face value depending on their year. At the end of the day, it is more of a hobby than a money making scheme.

Amazing find!!
Please post the breakdown by decade and any low mintage/key dates
Thank you! I will be sure to post the breakdowns.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I am very happy that you enjoy watching the videos! Makes it worth while to know other coin roll hunters are watching them. I send my warm regards to my friends down South as well!

I sincerely hope that this isn't a stolen collection. You are right though, with the current times being hard, a lot of old coins could start to trickle back into circulation.

Results from Rolls 1-5

Here are the results for the first five rolls. There were a lot of Wheats from the teens, which was pretty shocking. The other interesting thing was that there were 255 pennies in total, which means there were 51 in each roll instead of 50.

1910, 1914, 1916x15, 1917x20, 1918x34, 1919x29, 1930x4, 1934x11, 1935x12, 1936x22, 1937x15, 1938x16, 1939x23, 1942Sx1, 1944Sx11, 1945Sx1, 1946Sx8, 1947Sx1, 1950Sx1, 1951Sx21, 1952Sx2, 1953Sx4, 1944Dx1, 1950Dx1

Here is a video of the results and some pictures that I took.
