AN ONLINE SOURCE FOR PRE-1950 MAPS?

As a relative newcomer to MDing, Im finding out reasearch is the best way to find old stuff. I read of people checking out old maps to find former locations of fairgrounds, schools, etc pre 1950. Is there an online source for this? Many thanks...
