Another BIG SILVER today (1918), 1897 IH, + more - VIDEO

ModernMiner · Feb 26, 2011

I detected with Andy (DD-777) today at an early 1800's property I've detected in the past. This time though we hit an open pasture area that I've never hit. After digging a few rusty iron farm pieces I got a good signal within 20 minutes of being there. I cut a plug and to my amazement there was a LARGE SILVER in there!

I was hoping like heck it was an 1800's silver, but it was not to be. It turned out to be a 1918 Walker half. Still a great find.

My second Walker half in two months now. Enjoy the video. Sorry for the scary face at the beginning. :tongue3:

I then dug what looks to be an old pewter (?) button in the pasture too. The shank is missing and it looks like someone shot the front of it. :dontknow:

We then moved to another spot that I just got permission to just up the road a piece. This was an area that had two old tenant houses back in the 1800's. The only thing left was the stone fireplaces and a cellar hole.
My very first signal when we got there turned out to be a 1897 IH. :hello2:

Andy was getting ready to club me with his shovel by this point.

We poked around some more and came up with the relics you see here. I think we just scrathed the surface at both of these places and I'm looking forward to going back.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Nothing like a big walker find while walking around :laughing7:

Sweet digs, Doug. Looks like you have a nice spot that is still not hunted out yet. With that kind of coinage there surely has to be more. Go gettem' :laughing7:

Ron,
I'm thinking the same thing too. There has to be a lot more out there for sure. Andy & I were digging iron like crazy, so I'm hoping to recover a lot more. It's right up by the old house too, so there had to be quite a bit of activity over the years in that pasture.

Have a great week buddy.

Dawg,
Good idea. I'll try that on my next trip back .

That fireplace is on it's last leg it looks like. Remove one more stone and POW!

Thanks,
Dug

That chimney pic and your big silver made me think of this rhyme....

There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse.
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

What an awesome place to hunt! I know you two will be finding lots of keepers from there. And it looks like those two items (brush?) may be silver too? Always love the vid's! 8)

Grats on all those finds, MM!

I wasn't expecting the silver brush/mirror pieces by the old tennant house. This one area had a lot of relics and I hadn't spent much time there either.
