Hi Guys,
Dug up a few things in the 'Hexagram' field yesterday. Placing them in 'Todays Finds' shortly.
Couple of things I'm not sure about.
This brass thingy, on a ring - piece of leather still attached, 'Carpenter & Co. Birmingham' in small writing:

Carpenter-and-Co-Birmingham.webp

And this Acorn-shaped brass thingy - reminds me of the end of a light pull - or a small salt pot:

Acorn-shaped.webp

Any ideas?
Best wishes,
David.

Hi BuckleBoy, yes, its been a while since this post but i was wondering what the suspender buckle is called in your collection picture, the second from the left on the top line?.

I have one with the teeth still intact and would love to know the name of it for my next metal detecting club meet...i have the picture of it on picassa under the name wide mouth suspender clip for you to see...its a nice find that i located on the grounds of a museum that was a former house with stables in massachusetts, i hope you can help me because 1200 pages of google patents are daunting at best

Im not Buckleboy but could this be it? patent buckle 1871.webp

There is no patent information on that suspender clip, unfortunately. It dates to approximately the 1870s-80s. When I went back and looked, the items dug with it dated to around that time, and that is a good general date range for those ornate, "wide mouth" styles.

Regards,

Buckles
