You actually did well with the quarters there! This looks like my typical beach day. Thanks for sharing!

Nice finds (and nice display) BillW21 - thanks for sharing...

Just one bobby pin? I usually pull 15 or so out on each
lake hunt. I had no idea that bobby pins were still used so much until I started water hunting.

LOL - no, just the one. I'm still surprised (and somewhat impressed) that the thing even found it. If its finding that, you know its not missing much...

The biggest problems on the beach are buried beer and soda cans - those often hit in the dime and quarter ranges on my detector, especially when they are flattened, but I am finding you can tell from the size of the area that generates hits. With a coin, it will be a very small area. With a can, you get the same hit or different hits over several inches of travel in different directions. Not to say this is foolproof... Foil is another problem. Probably 90% of my beach hits have been foil. And it is everything from foil from somebody's lunch to foil off of a beer bottle to gum wrappers to pieces of pull tab to pill wrappers (I found a tylenol pack that set off the detector) to juice boxes (I guess they have foil in them) to cigarette packs, etc. I just notched out foil after awhile because there were way too many foil hits and they were all trash. The manual says some small gold may hit under foil. But if I dug every foil signal, I wouldn't have gotten very far before the end of the day.

And I haven't found anything good at all yet that hits in the half dollar range. All larger junk metal.
