I found this a couple years back and posted it but we were never able to identify it. I am confident that it is military related but I have no idea as to who may have worn it and during what time frame. As you can see on the back there are three attachment loops... There are a lot of new members on the site identifying finds so I figured now would be a good time to re-post. Found on the east coast of Canada. Any ideas?

Before becomeing an independant nation Canada was a British Colony and before that was a French colony. British military units were there to keep to provide internal security and to keep those pesky French and more importantly those impertinent Americans ;D from invading. For example at the high point between 1831 to 1854 forty-five British Infantry Regiments (Regiments of Foot) were stationed in Canada. This does not include the Dragoons, Guards, Engineers and Artillery which were attached to the Regiments of Foot.

My problem with it being military is it is too plain , any old British military device usually has a motto or initials ..something , this doesnt.
It does however bear the symbol of recoqnised authority , thats why i believe its from a Police force.Scroll back to the police cloak and you'll see they are quite readily using just a crown with no motto.
Im all googled out for now and on to detecting outside , best of luck with the ID , im pretty sure that $50 is sitting on a silver platter just waiting to be collected by the guy who researches early police forces in Nova Scotia.

It's a hat badge off of a Pith Helmet. That explains the loop holes on the back and the chain attached. Do you recall the Patriot, Hunthicks and I finding the 93rd helmet plates, chains and other parts? Here is the link to CMD forum. What do you think Romeo?..................Cheers!
