Any buckle experts?

I found this in an area where the British army would rest while marching their prisoners circa mid 1700's. I have been told that it may be from a British army uniform? Any ideas?

Looks like a simple hook/clasp belt deal... or, a suspender hook. I'll try to find pictures...

Good post. I found one very much like it. I thought it was just some kind of junk so I threw it away. I guess I need to start keeping things more often until I find out what they are.
