Any day detecting is a good day, but today was a great day.

[JDug]

I found these cool things today while Union reinactors were firing Cannons in the gap above us and the smoke was rolling down the hill and across field we were in. what a great experience!
The 2 ringer confederate bullets are a 1st for me. I gave 2 to the land owner so we might get to go back.
I'm really happy with the pen. I didn't think much of it when I dug it, then I thought I broke it in 2 when I was cleaning it, but it turned out i just pulled the lid off and there was a pen inside.

That pin looks cool! Post closer pics? What's all the details on it, I think I see an eagle on it, but i'm not sure.

There is a general service eagle button in there. Did you click on the pic? If you do I think you can see it pretty clearly when the photo enlarges. Let me know

Nice digs!

Here's a few miscellaneous items from yesterday's dig that I think are more modern.

[leprechaun]

Exellent historicle finds.

My partners finds next to mine. Notice his 2 shell fragments and mine are all a different thickness. He also found a nice brass bell. The only reason I got so many Gardner bullets was they were all in the same 2 foot area.

love the pen

love the pen

Thanks, I'm just tickled to death with this pen. A soldier probably wrote home to his family with this, and was his only connection to them, or a officer used it for battle plans or endless other possibilties.
The pen is mightier then the sword.
