Found in an old slave quarters area, that was used up to the early 1900's. The eyelet on top has a little metal grommet or such that spins within the eyelet. This makes me wonder if it was the top to a locket or such that would swivel to the left or right? The center has a detent that protrudes on the reverse.

Thanks for looking

Nice Find. Its part of a 2pc locket. You have the front. the back side was deeper, so you could place a picture in it. It swiveled open at the top where the chain went thru.

Thanks Breezie! Hope to get out sometime in the next couple of days and find the other half of the locket and perhaps a slice of cake the knife was cutting!!!

Hopefully you'll find the other half of the locket . . .now . . .as far as that cake is concerned, I'd be 'skurd' of that! :laughing7: Is the knife marked? :) Breezie

The brass object below the suspenders-strap buckle is a civil war era US army infantryman's knapsack strap hook. Relic-diggers call it a knapsack "J-hook." Part of the small disc on yours is broken off.
