Aquired piece

Took a while but I finally laid some money down and got me a nice piece for my collection. It's a wing banner un notched almost 6 inches in length, back side has a small hole blow out and tip of wing has a little tiny repair, what do u guys think

I went out today, after viewing this thread, and this was my first find.







It's a core, I think. Only one corner was sticking out of the ground. I just knew I had found a banner stone. My heart rate went through the roof for nothing. Lol!

thanks, guys i took some outside pics i will post tom, is that slate ncfieldhunter or flint. i will get a banner group photo and add tom night also. jamie thanks for noticing the little man, he is getting big going on 7 months all fricking ready dang!!!!! yes more hair than daddy to, lol. maybe one day i will aquire some from u. you still growing for locks of love, thats very cool of you, thats a banner win in itself buddy

Trev, flint is rare around here. My area is called "the slate belt", but I see no over abundance of slate either. It's a misconception that many are disappointed by. This piece, is say is slate. Any pointers you can give? I'm thinking if this Lithic is present , banner stones or atlatal weights should be, as well. I found this blade about 1/2 mile from the core.

Only if the culture in your area made them. There is a chart somewhere with banner distributions and areas. I will try to find it for you
