Hunted a Baltimore County park today and was not finding much until I dug a wheat (good sign). After that I came upon a wheat/dime spill and that was my first silver of the day. IMG_8086.webp
I kept in the same area and a 27 signal on the Equinox 600 yielded another spill. Out came two nickels, both 1964. IMG_8087.webp
I thought that was it but noticed a silver quarter in the dirt from the hole. I checked the hole for any other coins and got another quarter, a 1964.

I continued to detect there but was asked to leave by an employee who was pressing the case that the park was a nature center, so I obliged, having had a good run of it. There may be more there. Here's the total take of wheats, nickels and silver.

bean field = good!

Thanks washingtonian. They don't work everyday there and there's always the holidays, so I may get to swing over that spot again.

Thanks Rook. We hope we can stay in the City parks. Finds are still coming out of those old parks.

Thanks DetecTom. You're certainly right. Great weather, good finds, ok to leave it for another day down the road.

Just a question....isn't Loch Raven owned by the city?

You're right, Whadi. City has owned it for the last hundred years.

I've heard that in the last couple of years more public land has been banned from detecting in Baltimore.

My friend in Chicago told me a good time ago that signs went up right after one of those
metal detecting TV programs did plenty of digging at a monument site.
They left the place a shambles.

Right away a number of sites were posted including parks.

Heard that Philadelphia has re-opened a few parks for detecting.

Wait awhile and go back on a Sunday! Congrats on the silvers!

Nice job on the silvers McCdig. At least you were able to grab a few before being run off.

Nice Hunt, and great finds. I would keep plugging the area till you get run off for good.
Hope we can get together soon. I'll be at the meeting Thursday. Got to get out of the house.

Sir, please drop the shovel and slowly back away from the hole....

NIGHT HUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

In Maryland, first warning is a gimme, UNLESS there are signs posted. 2nd is call the cops and get cited for a misdemeanor.

Thanks Jamie. Life's been extra busy lately, but it will be good to catch up at the meeting.

Thanks Bob. That would be a hoot. That's what a backlit screen and light from my pinpointer are for?

Thanks Steve. Well, she could have just driven by and let the old man have some fun, but duty called.

Thanks xcopperstax. The spot intrigues me. Could just be a spot where young people parked back in the '60s. A weekday holiday sound good to me for a return visit.

Thanks Trezurehunter. Yes, it gave me time to get what may be a pr. I don't recall ever getting 3 from one spot in one hunt. I can recall one other time when 2 silver quarters came out of a hole; that was in the City.

Smokey, thought only girls were given missdemeanors.
