I went for a drive in Arizona looking for a new place to hunt in what was a very active silver and gold mining district.
The locals:

Some more locals: (Red barrel cacti)

Mines and stamp mill ruins, but couldn't find a place of habitation.

After a couple hours of hiking around I gave up and headed back towards home, but on the way I decided to stop for a look at the place where I recently found the seated dime and Barber half.

There's always something left, my friend.

Awesome hunt! :occasion14:

As I sit here...waiting for the flood waters to rise in never ending rain...I've got to be honest..

It's high time the wife and I had a serious discussion about moving down into that country. It's
absolutely beautiful here for about two months out of the year..rest of the time it's cold, wet and
it just sucks.

Time for some adventure in life. Hopefully, at 66 I didn't wait too long.

I am also 66, and just this year I'm realizing that there is no more time to waste!

A nice variety of finds. That V nickel has amazing details. Great picsa too! Looks nice and warm there.

Great pics !!!! Excellent V nickel !!! Congrats !!!! Many years ago we were hunting turqouise in New Mexico, and my brother somehow fell into a big clump of cholla, we spent around 3 hours out in the desert with his pants down around his ankles pulling cactus spines out of his legs, arms butt and back, HE WAS NOT HAPPY !!😂 For about a year He still complained about feeling them.

Thanks!
Yeah, those cholla are some nasty boogers! They have barbed spines which makes them difficult and painful to remove, and as your brother found out, sometimes the barb breaks off under the skin causing pain for years.

Love your pictures of an outstanding area to hunt and your recoveries! I'll be 79 May 1st and have slowed down a bit. Good luck on your next outing and stick with it as long as you can. This is a fantastic hobby!

Yep ! Very painful !!! Luckily we all had some form of pliers with us ! Them danged ole cholla are nothing to mess with !!!

Those must be wild donkeys ? How close can you get to them ?

not a good idea.... they (and mustangs) are not afraid of anything, even cars.

Out there they are pretty skittish, maybe 50 feet. But in some places where they see a lot of people, they'll come right up to you looking for handouts.
Here's my wife sharing her french fries in Beatty, Nevada.
