Hello all you AZ members of Treasure Net.

Here is a thread designed for one thing... Checking in and getting out with fellow AZ members. I see that there are a few AZ members who have gotten together and had some fun prospecting. I am kinda jealous. I, and hopefully other members from AZ also, would like to get to know our peers in person. See who like to shovel, and who like to watch shoveling happen... J/K.

I see some members are passing through the area I live in and I would love to get involved.

I will start it off. I live in Glendale, and don't have a truck. ( I have a company truck, but that is a big no-no) I have a drywasher, and a MD. I have my daughter every other weekend, and have the FEVER. I have a membership with Roadrunners. We have claims at Rich Hill, near Vulture Mine, and near Old Woman Gulch outside of Morristown. Anybody wants to set up a day of digging, let me know. I will be waiting at the end of the drive with too much equipment....

Just lost satellite again and sure enough, it's pouring again. Sounds to be letting up, but holy crap is it going to be a mess out there.

I've been wondering about those BGT, how well do they work? I understand the theory behind them, just looking for first hand account. And for the fly poop, I found some of that in UT, but it was mostly gnat poop. At least here in AZ the fly poop is not as common to see in my pan, though I could be mesmerized by the large flakes and small pickers too!

Take a look at the posts from the past for lots of detail...
Briefly a Bazooka Prospector will get you about 3x as much gold as a riffle sluice due to lack of classifying and speed of feeding it. Setup is also quicker due to it being less finicky about angles. I've run mine in Utah, Washington and Colorado so I can say fine gold gets caught well.

Kevin you can add Maine and N.H. About all I find is the fine stuff. But at least Im finding some gold. And moving a lot more dirt with the Bgt. Prospector.

We get our share of fines in Ga even though we get some chunky gold as well

Some of the Au my 10 year old found a couple weeks ago. Now he has the fever. If I can get my 12 year old infected too, I could have a crew!

Well Thanks to jcazgoldchaser with the lead on the Angus Mackirk, I'm now the owner of an Expedition sluice. Now to do some experimenting and get it set up as a recirc. Always heard good things about them and the price was right. Hopefully it will replace one of my heavier ones.

Here is my AM Expedition as a HB. I'm not sure what GPH I need for it, but my 6000GPH pump should more than do the trick. I'm guessing I would need around 1500-2000 GPH. I'm also going to build a recirc system for mine.

Pretty sure 2000GPH would disappoint you with that setup. I would run the 6K pump with a bypass system to regulate flow to the HB. Just my thoughts.

THank You!! I didn't need another but at that price.... :)

I've got a large one and backpack sized one from the same hole in the wall. I need to get to walmart for a grill ready grizzly.

Yea, I was low balling the figure some hoping that's what the calcs would come out to be. In reality, I'm probably looking at more like 3000GPM for optimal flow. I will be adding a bypass, but haven't decided where in the system to add it yet. And your thoughts are more than appreciated.

You have to also think about losses at every fitting and connection in the plumbing along with total length.
It is more than most peeps realize. I like the bypass at the connection to the header box.

I've ran the pipe calcs, so I'm pretty sure I'm good there. I work for an MEPT engineering firm here in Tempe, so I have all kinds of resources available to me to calc out pressure and flow losses. I was even going to take my sluice that I did a 3D model for and run a CFD calc on it to see what the optimal flow and angle combinations would be, but I have't had time to mess with all that, so that will be an in field adjustment. I'll look at placing the bypass where you suggested, as long as I can make it fit.

I am not going to get into a gun debate, nor am I trying to. I just want to throw this out to everyone. Cabela's is teaming up with NRA this weekend. At the store in Glendale, you can buy a lifetime membership for $500. Also, if you buy any membership over $35, you get a $25 Cabela's gift card. Just letting you all know.

Batten down the hatches boys!

Looks lke we going to be getting nailed on Wed by the storm that hit Cabo yesterday. Weather is calling for up to 4.5 inches in the Tucson area. DIdn't see what's presicted for the Phoenix area.

WIth that much rain hitting all at once, flooding is going to be a major problem. On the good side though, it should move a lot of new gold off the hills and into the washes. One must always try to look on the bright side.. ;)

I'll be looking on the bright side of my pan come this Saturday when I'm out digging up some of that flood gold. Has anyone here tried the San Domingo wash? Is it all claimed up?

San Domingo Wash is all claimed up or private land. There is a small stretch on the very upper end just past the State Land that looks to be open but that area isn't known for gold.

Little San Domingo is all claimed up or private/State land.

Ox Wash had several acres on the upper end in good gold ground open last week. It's a little tough to get to and it might have been claimed since the 1st of the month so check Maricopa County Recorder and keep your eyes out for corner markers if you go up there.

Good Luck and don't get stuck in the washes. It should be a good time for finding some nuggets stranded on bedrock.

I figured it was or would be mostly claimed up or private land. No worries on my end, there are a ton of places in the state that are getting wet this week that will move a lot of material around for us to dig through. Is anyone else planning on getting out this week-end?

It looks to me like the club did a lot of claim housekeeping. The BLM required Proof of Discovery on their larger claims, so they let them expire by not paying the maintenance fees for 2015. Then immediately filled several smaller claims over the same ground on September 3. Four 20 acre claims instead of one 80 acre claim and so forth. I am still researching out there and a couple of other places.

While on the subject of claims Clay, what is the deal with placer and lode claims filed on the same ground by different claimants? thanks

Never mind, I found this link and the info I was looking for: http://www.nuggetshooter.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=22620
