People don't have those kind of days very often anymore. Congrats on the sword belt plate and the Vermont button.

Thanks, I am actually moving to Pittsburgh soon. Do you ever have any luck with civil war artifacts up there?

Man a hunt like that would have made me happy for a month or 2.
IMO that Officers Plate is in SUPER Condition.
Green With Envy , you darn Virginians . ---Kidding & Not.

Incredible,, Virginia saw so much Civil War Traffic.
Is there another southern state that saw more movement of troops through it's state lines?

No.. Not just No but Heck No!

The plate has a slight torque on it from being under the driveway. I guess it got run over a few times. As for the quality of the metal, it is one of the best I have ever seen, the dirt was like sandy pudding!

I can't think of one! But some of the western campaign states saw quite a bit of action as well

No History Professor here, but I would think Tennessee may have seen the most action in the Western Theater.
I wan born in TN but only Hunted there for a COLD Couple hours Last December at the foot of Signal Mt.
It was all Developed but U never Know there may have Been a Nice relic there left just for me. LOL

I found an Eagle I yesterday at a mid 19th century house site. I have dug a number of CW buttons at old house sites around here and even see a plate pop out now and then. But when I want to dig CW, I have to drive down to the Antietam area, MD or WV. About 3.5 hour drive from Pittsburgh.

Days like that are few and far between and I know how amazing that must have felt. Some sweet finds there and goes to show there's always something left behind, no matter how hard a place is hunted.

That's one hunt to tell the grandkids about - congratulations!

Thanks everybody! I went back tonight and found 5 more bullets, and about 2/3 of a rosette. I will post pics later!
