So met up with Carolina Tom and Smittyman at lunch time.
They caught a flight early this morning and landed in Philadelphia at 10am. I text them a address were to go. By 11am they were swinging. Lol.
I caught up with them by 12pm..
Great guys!!! ( for southern boys) lol.
Not 10min into hunt I get this awsome mid tone deep..
Thats when i pulled the watch out.
Man this this is beautifully if i say so myself. .lol.
Tom almost crapped himself. .
Then we all together hunting this area, and I get a nice deep high tone.
I get Tom to check it with his detector, then I get Smittyman to check it.
Anyway i dig down around 10inchs and the half cent comes out!!!!
I hand it to Smittyman and say what is it?? They dont know, they have never seen one before! !! Lol.
I get it back a wipe it and say OMG!!!
Its a freaking 1803 half cent..
Did not expect that at this place???
Well right after that i pack my detector up and say im out of here.
You boys go find the rest..
There still there..
Hope they find the same??
But im sure glad I got my!!! Lol.
Ps. This is a new spot, I found it just for them;-)
Thanks for looking, and I look forward to seeing what they find. Were meeting up for dinner later.

Tom had a great day today.
Smittyman knocked ot out of the box. Will post later.
Yeah I talked to Tom earlier and had to rag him a bit by telling him he needed to get into the 1600-1700's since he traveled 550 miles. Told him he needs to load his sack up with colonial goodies and leave that 1864 junk alone..lol
And OD thinks he gets a hard time from me..not even close

Tom just called and talking about excited about the day y'all had. He was like a kid on Christmas morning describing the finds of the day. Glad him and Smittyman digging some good finds. Keep up the good work and better buy Vino a steak y'all two.

You Philly boys sound off how easy it is to dig oldies. I'd love for you to come down south and try to find anything worthwhile down here at least in Charlotte. The Northerners hoarded all the money in the old days leaving the Southerners with nothing but harmonicas to sing the blues with. That is why we only find harmonica reeds :( LOL. Seriously though that is an incredible find in amazing condition. I hope my boys find some colonial coins up there or it is going to be unbearable listening to Tom....Then again...if he finds one...probably unbearable also...

OH SO TRUE...

Those old LC's & HC's and Coppers are rare indeed in the Non, Colonial South.
Never Dug a LC but did dig pieces of 3 Diff, Harmonica's last week.

Just so y'all Know 'Don't Quote me on the numbers' but I looked up the 1900 US Census & Pennsylvania & New York's Population #s Were Twice as much as the Numbers of States like Ga, & NC, we had around Est, 2 Million Back Then & Penn, & NY had about 4 mill , .& that was in 1900 .
I'd love to see 1810 Population Numbers, & back then the North was always Richer than the .:BangHead::BangHead::censored::sad5:

If it were not for Civil War Relics , I'd Move or Quit Hunting .....As much ..LOL.
Davers:thumbsup:

Great find Smittyman and George as the Hunt Guide make him slip his bra back on before snapping a pic. And do I see Tom behind those bushes crying....Again?

Vino not to many of us find a complete pocket watch let alone one in that condition. I found one last year and even with hallmarks 14k
I didn't believe it was solid gold. The guy I took it to knew it was gold because the front and back covers were flexible. He still had to do
the acid test to prove it was 14k. Vino your watch has a lot more detail than mine but here's a look.

Thanks TM

I haven't posted in awhile, but I can't help myself this time. That has to be the best looking pocket watch that I've seen that anyone has found.

Thats a great watch, and real..
Thanks George

I agree with pointman...beautiful watch that would be an eye catching centerpiece of ANY display.

Haven't been on myself lately, just checking in to see how u all are doing and WOW! all kinds of neat things. Vino, plated or not, the watch is in such primo condition, it's a great find, half cent too! WTG!
This time of year, I'm just too busy to get to go, 3 grandsons, too young to go yet, boat, garden, pool, house, work, hope to get back out soon.
Seeing finds like this makes me miss the hunt! Thanks for showing!

Vino did you take The Charlotte Silver Mafia for a ride? They seem to be MIA not that I'm complaining. That may not necessarily be a bad thing

But hey they hsvnt made it out of town with them yet have they? Hmm pretty smart ...you having them do all the digging for you and I thought Beez was a genius with that lawnmower trick.

Yeah and Tom was as happy as a pig that escaped a barbeque to clear all that old junk away. He sent me the same pic 6 times. Him in bed with his goodies. Almost went blind from those satin PJ's
