Been hitting the hill of the Mohawk Indian castle and nothing spectacular but still digging cut brass points and lead so I started a display case of my finds there ...

And the cornfield I dug the Geo Washington Inaugural in has been plowed and has produced several nice coins and buttons.

This morning I stopped in there for a couple hours and dug a 1809 Lg Cent and 1749 King Geo. coppa and as I was leaving and swinging the coil I recieved a +25 - +30 on the DFX and found my 2nd Continental Army USA button and in pretty good shape !!!

I've included several photos of the Mohawk indian castle hill !

Thanks for looking and Good Hunting

Derek, congrats on finding your two Coppas and that USA button!!

That display case of yours is very unique. Just Awesome!! I'm very envious of your location for md'ing. Digging up old Rev. War and Indian artifacts would really get my blood pumping.

Thanks for sharing your pics of this site too!!

Good luck to you!

Dan

Thanks CAPTN

I had to get those unusal and rare relics encased ! So many people searched that hill but I buckled down and overlapped my swings that I overlapped
and I dug ALL targets...and there are iron targets that have just that tiny up tone that get ya to dig and did turn out to be a keeper !

So my blood is always pumping when I'm finding the early stuff and it helps relieve the high gas prices when I get a small treasure.
Its 67 miles round trip to the site(s) and my Jeep sucks up the gas :sad5:

HH

Excellent Derek, that site has been very good to you. A USA button would be a nice addition to my collection as well, but the odds in my area are very low unless I stumble across one. I have only found a Rev War Dragoon button at the same site I found the KGI Indian Peace Medal, other than Dragoon button, I have found no identified American Rev War buttons, so glad you are in an area at least to have a better chance of finding some more.

The 1749 KGII is a good year, lot of them in great shape, a big shipment of 1749's arrived from England, so for the most part those were Regal and thus were in better shape to begin with than a lot of the counterfeits.

Don

I remember that indian peace medal ! That was a cream-of-the-crop stellar find !!! :occasion14:

All my years of hunting for Early American relics I've only dug a grand total of 4 Rev.War regiment buttons so I'm not far ahead of you in that department
As for all KG coppas I know they're a thrill to find...I love finding them , but dang I think they must of threw them in the air and shot at them for musket aiming practice and missed and lost them ! LOL..They lost many KG coins up this way and in this particular field I've dug 8 so far :icon_scratch:

Looking forward to your next post of GREAT finds

Simply terrific finds Derek! Where you at in the valley? I was born in Amsterdam & lived in Broadalbin until I joined the Navy. I get down there every couple years to visit the aunts & uncles...I'll give you a shout when I'm heading there again; maybe we can do a hunt. Again, those are some great finds!

Real nice Derek. I need to find some prime real estate like that to swing over, the kind of place that gives you "that feeling" with every signal.

Your USA condition is about as good as it gets in my area for dug early pewter. Most are not anywhere close to that so in my books it's a real looker.

Hey Iron Patch where have ya been ???

I wish they had used a more durable metal for the regiment buttons...I've dug at least a zillion generic metal buttons that held up great but the pewter alloy rarely survives :sad11:

I'm rather hopefull there will be more Rev.war company buttons in this field...It was once the site of a Rev.War Captain's home so fingers & toes crossed

HH !
Derek

I'm easily 60 + Rev pewters and never a nice one!

The DFX kicks some major butt, dude! Keep listening for those high tones! The next one could be a 1734 coppa! :D

Screw the coins - I love the native american artifacts!! The little figures look like they're made of lead - are they?

The other day I dug up a 1923 Buffalo Nickel and just seeing that Indian looking up at me from the hole was enough to make me jump for joy. Now, after seeing your fabulous finds, that nickel seems so insignificant. I'll never dig the Revolutionary War relics like you do because I'm in California, but I enjoy seeing what you East Coast guys dig up. Truly awesome. Thanks for saving all that history, both Rev. and Indian.

Never say never ! Someday you might be here and we'll take ya to some sites

Treasure is treasure no matter what the age or what it is ! When I lived in Upland,Calif. I found my first Merc and I was ecstatic !!!

HH !

Thanks for the thumbsup :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumright: on preserving history :notworthy:

Agreed - the carvings really look wonderful - you should take a few closer up photos of them and post them on the Native American Artifacts section of this website. I bet alot of people there would love to see them!

Absolutely.....UNBELIEVEABLE.....This is the stuff WE ALL live for!! :headbang:
