Been hitting the hill of the Mohawk Indian castle and nothing spectacular but still digging cut brass points and lead so I started a display case of my finds there ...

And the cornfield I dug the Geo Washington Inaugural in has been plowed and has produced several nice coins and buttons.

This morning I stopped in there for a couple hours and dug a 1809 Lg Cent and 1749 King Geo. coppa and as I was leaving and swinging the coil I recieved a +25 - +30 on the DFX and found my 2nd Continental Army USA button and in pretty good shape !!!

I've included several photos of the Mohawk indian castle hill !

Thanks for looking and Good Hunting

The famed and iconic Continental Army U.S.A. button is on many a wish list. Your latest specimen sure is in nice condition.... very clear lettering.

The displays are getting downright exotic. If I were a millionaire I would make you some kind of indecent proposal.... nothing to do with your body, just detecting that amazing site with those beautiful trade brass points and the lead effigies.

I think the term "colonial", or "colonial era" is often overused when describing artifacts, especially in the forums.

This stuff,my friend, is colonial and colonial era in a big way. Your collection is one of the most interesting I have seen.

Thanks for the reply Plehbah...

Living in what I and many consider PRIME Rev.war country ( and previous wars ) the Rev.war regiment button(s) are still difficult to locate so anytime I find one I'm on cloud 9 & 10 &11 !

As for the relics I've found left behind by the Mohawk indians I am thrilled to find these treasures of a people / culture I admire !
So many people have searched the area since it was first discovered in the 1920's but look whats still there !
I'm proud of my newest display :occasion14: These indian relics will always be cherished !!

HH !

WAAAHOOOOOOOO, the king of the Mohawk Valley has struck again! :hello2:

Derek, you research like a pro, sweep like the Michael Jordan of detecting, and excavate Colonial relics with nothing but a detector and massive Colonial shovel. :notworthy:

That G.W. site has been one heck of a site for you. Since it already yielded a G.W. button, what could even come close to topping it? Yupper, a USA Continental button has brought back the extreme Colonial button fever to the Derek Dude! :headbang:

What could make the day even better? A KG II and Classic Head largie were welcomed with open arms by the Dster, topping off another career day! :smileinbox:

I love the site pictures. You know where to hunt, and it shows in the recoveries that you post for us to see! :icon_salut:

Keep the Colonial finds a coming, my good buddy! :occasion14:

Real nice Derek. I need to find some prime real estate like that to swing over, the kind of place that gives you "that feeling" with every signal.

Your USA condition is about as good as it gets in my area for dug early pewter. Most are not anywhere close to that so in my books it's a real looker.

Great Finds! Great pictures!
Keep up the good work there Mr. Derek as you are one man to be quite envious of! :)

Excellent Derek, that site has been very good to you. A USA button would be a nice addition to my collection as well, but the odds in my area are very low unless I stumble across one. I have only found a Rev War Dragoon button at the same site I found the KGI Indian Peace Medal, other than Dragoon button, I have found no identified American Rev War buttons, so glad you are in an area at least to have a better chance of finding some more.

The 1749 KGII is a good year, lot of them in great shape, a big shipment of 1749's arrived from England, so for the most part those were Regal and thus were in better shape to begin with than a lot of the counterfeits.

Always a chance Don, a friend dug one here mixed in some Loyalist stuff.

Derek, congrats on finding your two Coppas and that USA button!!

That display case of yours is very unique. Just Awesome!! I'm very envious of your location for md'ing. Digging up old Rev. War and Indian artifacts would really get my blood pumping.

Thanks for sharing your pics of this site too!!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the upbeat reply Kyle ...Colonial Spanish Wilver Recovering Dude :director: I Found Wilver !!

To me that button is the icing on the cake !! The G.W. I guess would be the cake part- LOL :laughing9:

I think I need a intervention cause I'm addicted to hunting the Early American coins and relics ! :tard:

Hey Iron Patch where have ya been ???

I wish they had used a more durable metal for the regiment buttons...I've dug at least a zillion generic metal buttons that held up great but the pewter alloy rarely survives :sad11:

I'm rather hopefull there will be more Rev.war company buttons in this field...It was once the site of a Rev.War Captain's home so fingers & toes crossed

HH !
