What are the best headphones for a Minelab Sovereign metal detector? Detectorpro Black Widows, Killer bees or something else?

I like killer bees. A definate no to Grey Ghosts, they broke on me in the first three months.

I have used Gray ghosts for 11 years and no problems! To me GG NDT is as good as it gets.

And I will second that.

I use the Grey Ghost NDT's and haven't found a better set. Why NDT's? As you know, all wires fatigue and eventually lose connection. With the NDT's, spare cords come with the set making it simple to change cords if the others get caught on branches, crimped etc...

I sell and highly recommend the Detectorpro Greyghost NDT headphones.

Please explain how they "broke" Gary at Detectorpro has some of the best customer service in the industry. If they "broke" he would fix them or replace them.

I asked the same type of questions about the "best" headphones. I head great things about both the GG and the KillerBees. I flipped a coin and bought the KBs. Been very happy with them for the past 2 years. Never a hint of trouble and they sound great.

Yeah....I need to decide on a good pair as well, since I'm buying an e-trac in the not too distant future....black widows, GG NDT, or killer b's....it's definitely going to be one of the three....tough decision....

I have never used the Detector Pro Grey Ghost NDT headphones but after trying the Black Widow's I had to have that for my Sov GT and now use them on all my land units.

I'd say they are all good so why not buy ones which you can change the cord!

Sun Ray Pro Gold? Joe

I agree with the grey ghosts. I got the deep woods version, because I like that the switches are inside the ear cup. I hunt a lot of woods, and dont have to worry about a switch getting hit into another position. Dont know if that really a problem or not, but I like the idea of it. :icon_thumleft:

After talking to a dealer that sells all of these and reading the posts, I decided to go with the Sun Ray pro golds. Thanks for all of your input.

for years i used blackwidows.........the best for wind and wave noise, but can be warm to hot in the summer days.
i used them for like 7 or 8 years, last year i switched to jolly roger ultimates..........i am happy more.

I bought a pair of the GG NDT from a certain large dealer last year (you can figure out who it was) Well, normally they are supposed to come with 2 sets of cables (I wasn't aware of this fact at the time), but mine only came with one.

After around 4 weeks the wire stopped working, so I contacted this large dealer. The woman I spoke with had no idea that the GG NDTs are supposed to come with 2 sets of cables, and she didn't even offer to help me, other than to tell me to contact the vendor (DetectorPro).

I did so, and the fellow there was very helpful, and not happy about the dealer sending me only 1 cable and the fact that it failed so early on. I mailed that cable back to him, and he mailed me back 2 new cables. He also told me he tested the cable and it worked fine for him, which puzzled me to no end since I am no dummy in these matters and I tested it thoroughly and couldn't get it to work.

Anyway, both of the 2 cables he sent me worked fine, and I was glad to get my GG's back into action again. They are AWESOME. They're very comfortable and they have a very nice mid to high-range tone. The controls are easy to use and the cans are very high quality overall.

In other words, +1 for GG NDTs. :icon_thumleft:

What happened to Rat Phones? been looking for a pair and can't seem to find a dealer.

Well ole Max and Oldbeechnut let the cat out of the bag about the Peltor gel muffs. Very comfortable and quiet as heck from outside noise.

I like my Grey Ghost over the Koss that came with my SD2200v2.
