What a beautiful Saturday morning here in Southern California...but after lunch the rain was threatening. I decided to hunt (again) the north side rocks of Seal Beach.
Pickings were slim and so when I hit a clad dime I decided to head in a line towards the water in case more coins were dropped on the way in. I got a TID of 95 (on my Fisher F4) indicating a half or silver dollar... OR more likely a larger piece like a tin can lid.
My first two scoops missed it. Looked to be about 6" deep when I finally got it.
...............WOW!! A Huge Silver Ring!
It barely fit on my thumb. Nice .925 Silver. There's a middle race that seems to be missing a rotating insert. I have another similar ring with a wave pattern rotating insert intact found summer 2007.
Then the icing on the cake: Found two wheat pennies in the rocks! A 1953 S and 1958 D. Totally unexpected in that high traffic (fisherman) area. Those pennies have been most likely laying there for over 50 years!
My ring count is 4 for 19 days...all silver but I know the gold will follow and I've got the typical DETECTORIST'S PATIENCE to wait it out.
2nd photo is last year's similar WAVE ring.
