I was very surprised while hunting a civil war camp site to find my best silver ever a 1848 half dollar. I also got a couple nice .58 2-ring German Suhl's. Also a nice candle holder and a few .69 round balls and several buck and balls. I have to hunt this one solo the land owner will only let me hunt. I tried to get the trio on but maybe later he will say yes. With my work schedule time is limited I try to sleep but Doug and Quindy are killing me digging all those bullets!!! The morning I dug the big silver I was headed to bed and Quindy calls telling me he had been scouting a spot and had 70 relics!!! I couldn't sleep after that... So soon after I called him with the news of my 1848 silver. Lol Merry Christmas too all and Happy New Years. Josh

Way to go. I found my first seated half this year and boy was I jumping for joy. I jumped even higher when I rechecked the hole and found a seated quarter with it. The half was an 1872-S. It took me more than 30 years to find that first seated half. coin 6-15-13 obverse half dollar.webpcoin 6-15-13 reverse half dollar.webp

Congrats on the big silver! And the other finds!

Man, that is just a stellar coin find. Seated Halves just don't come along often. Seems like one is more likely to find one out West than here in the East. I dug my first one in Virginia in 1993. My second was dug in Kentucky about 2009. Dug #3 here in Louisiana this spring. You never know when they're going to turn up, or how frequently. I bet that one SANG in your headphones!

Cheers,

Buck
