I managed to get out early Sunday morning on a solo hunt, as the other boys had chores. I went over to the bad side of town, home of the bottle caps! I hit a couple of lots that formerly had houses on them.

I was digging the usual, nails and bottle caps... when a nickel appeared, I wiped it off, and it had that silver look to it, first silver of the day '45P war nickel.

Bolstered by my success, I plunged ahead. Not two feet later, an IHC appeared. All of my IHCs are all chewed up. I am so jealous of the gents that find the nice jade green ones.

I zapped this one with electrolysis... it was a nice 1900 when dropped, but 100 years on the ground ate it up.

A bit later, I got a fairly good signal... bigger than a quarter. I dig a lot of half dollar signals, 99% are NOT half dollars though! When the dirt came out of the hole, I saw what looked like the rim of a big silver coin...

I grabbed it up in my greedy little hand, to make sure it wasn't a gas cap or some other half dollar looking piece of junk.

It was NOT junk this time... it was a 1945 Walker.

It has been awhile since I found a silver half dollar, and let me tell you, it felt really good.

YTD silver coins: 39

Thanks for looking, and good luck on your hunts!

You went and dug my #1 bucket list coin! I've dug 4 halves in 8 years, all of them Barbers unfortunately. I just throw them back these days if they're not Walkers. I really want a Walker!

But seriously, congrats on pulling a nice big silver, she's a beauty.

Congrats on the finds!! WTG... :occasion14:

Love seeing the big silvers. That is quite a nice handful you've aquired so far. Grats!

Ahhhh a Walker!!!! What a beautiful coin!! Great recovery, congrats and HH

Congrats on that great looking Half Dollar Tom. Always nice to see a big silver come out of the plug.

Nice digs Tom! The Walker is beauty! Congrats!

Nice one buddy!

That's one nice big hunk of silver Tom! I like that group shot a lot.... very impressive. I dug a Barber half a couple weeks ago, which brought my total to 2! Haha.

It's always nice to get a silver that makes an impression on the memory bank. Congrats Tom on the biggy.

Awesome finds- that is one sweet Walker- Congrats!

Nice find buddy, I'll never forget my summer of Walkers down at my lake. Feeling that heft of a big silver feels good, I would love to feel an early American Dollar someday like a Flowing Hair Dollar!

OMG! Sweet success and then some!
Will you look at that walker!
Congrats to you!
