Went down to Oklahoma last week and got a pic of a whipporwill who had a nest in a cemetary. Took a pic of my son's newest red tail he uses in falconry, too.

Beautiful pictures! that red-tail's stare is riveting. He's young isn't he? with a cere that color?

It's an immature red-tail, but it's starting to drop the tail feathers and will replace them with the more familar red ones. There's quite a few folks into falconry in Oklahoma now, and they prefer the younger hawks. My son will hunt with this one through the summer and then release it back into the wild later on. They never become what you would call 'tame' so it will adapt immediately to the free life. He'll start over next year with a new one. (Don't ever walk up to one of these birds and stick your finger in their face and say 'Polly want a cracker?' They are not tame pets and their mission in life is to seek and kill.)

I have a pic of a whippoorwill, they aren't usually easy to photograph. You have done a fine job, excellent.
