Blue stone cuff link-need help Id'ing

Found this today at a site where we've found numerous colonial relics. Wondering what kind of stone it is. Also found this cool little buckle along 20150205_160159.webp20150205_161208.webp20150205_184702.webpwith some flat buttons and a couple of Enfield bullets. Thanks for looking and any input is greatly appreciated.

That is a mid-1700s cufflink. Great find! What did it read at on your AT Pro?

beautiful link, must have looked awesome in its days

Nice looking link! not any help on iding the stone. Nice buckle too. HH!

Thanks Kirk. It rang up 57-58. Thought it was a rivet at first until I saw the blue stone. Thanks and HH

I like that little buckle, early 1700s I believe. The piece with the stone in it is interesting and definitely looks colonial as well, but I don't think it is a cuff link. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't look like any colonial cuff link I ever saw.

Very cool find but I agree with Steve. The post looks much too thick to be a link and the style is much different than most colonial links I've seen. But it certainly raises the question as to what the hell else it could be. And I have no answer to that question. Looks like you're on a nice early site

Not sure if it's a cufflink or not. I would venture a guess that the stone is a sapphire. Beautiful finds.

Thanks for the replies! I just assumed it was a cufflink. not sure either what else it would be (?). Maybe I'll re post on "What is it". Thanks again for looking and HH!

The blue stone might be lapis lazuli. The buckle is really sweet. Congrats Darby! GL&HH.

Hi Darby, Could it be a collar stud? Just guessing. Beautiful find and a great save.

Thats some good stuff..

Thanks y'all. Here are some more pics. I don't have a clue what it is or what the stone is! I like it though! Like the little buckle too! Thanks for the input. 20150206_094828-1.webp20150206_094836-1.webp

I believe the "stone" is glass. It is not a sapphire nor is it lapis lazuli. It is still a sweet find.

Wow that's a great cufflink, beautiful blue stone, very nice

Nice find! I'm wondering if its a decoration for a fine piece of leather or such? I find a lot of old rivets as I call them that look like the back. Some with bits of leather still in them.

funny how different the stone looks different from the above pics...the stone looks very similar to the one I found in a trade ring many years ago...

Strange the stone & top piece look late 17th C - very early 1700s, but the the base is odd for this period!

The buckle could be late 17th C as well, I have found a silver version of that type.

I was thinking the same thing....some type of decoration that was sown into leather or clothing.
